this wasn’t a troll, the OP was young and intelligent but had grown up in a sheltered middle class environment but in an area where there are a fair few obvious crackheads about (and I happened to be familiar with, having grown up not too far away)/

it it was as simple as checking the IP address which was registered to the individual school he had attended (rather than the local authority in which the schools are situated). Because of his age, and both of use are in UK/Europe, I am morally (and possibly legally) obliged to warn him of the risks under the safeguarding rules anyway.
I can easily see why drug dealing seems glamorous as I can remember myself in the 1990s when all the dealers who were only a few years older had Japanese hi-fi/audio equipment none of us could afford, motor cars, were popular with the girls etc, but it wasn’t long before the bulk of them were inside having either got overconfident and got caught (often grassed up by other dealers) or ended up doing too much of their own stuff and sectioned.
A few of them aren’t around today – not because they OD’d or got shot/stabbed (this is much rarer than folk realise) but ended up taking their own lives in their 30s due to a combination of burnout, dealing to support a psychological habit / lifestyles and being unable to obtain or keep or cope with “normal” things like daytime jobs/relationships etc. Times have changed; “normal people” no longer consider drugs users to be the worst criminals (compared to crooked politicians or workers in financial services) they might even employ them or get into relationships look and even father their children but if anything goes wrong their lifestyles are brought into questions.
Often these folk never get caught for the dealing itself as its not obvious and they are working in industries like IT where there is a very high rate of mental health problems and people behaving strange anyway.
obvious solution is to change laws to reduce the need for criminality which also reduces harm its already happened with technology. in the UK today you don’t need to hack a University library computer to get on the Internet and can legitimately operate various kinds of radio transmitters and scanner receivers; activities that in my lifetime were illegal until the laws (or their enforcement) changed but that takes time and maturity on both sides and folk working together.
