Tinnitus can be induced by things other than loud music and isn’t necessarily permanent – I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
If you already have tinnitus to some degree (and most of us do), it can be made worse by factors such as stress and drinking alcohol. It can also be a symptom of some illnesses, it tends to get worse if you have a cold, for instance.
A few years ago I got paranoid that I’d done my ears in after listening to a loud, tinny sound system with no earplugs for a night and I could hear ringing for about a week afterwards. I just took it easy for a bit and it quietened down.
I’ve suffered from Tinitus in the past, I stopped using headphones for about a couple of years and it cleared up, but I had it since I was very young. I used to fall asleep listening to classical music when I was about 8-12 years old, I’d turn it up for the quiet bits and fall asleep before the music hit a crescendo and got really loud and it never woke me up to turn it off.
tinitus is a bastard to live with but you cope after a while…it follows you everywhere…loud music helps though, volumen brutal, but that is not a cure, but rather loud music than grasshoppers pitching up and down…then some talking radio at night, to keep it a bay… I had mine since -83, got it on a shooting range, I was to quick to take off my ear-protection… I am still puzzeled of how much the hearing can take, had a test half a year ago, and I had better hearing than most except in my tinitus range and seldom use ear-protection at work, but if I do I never use those ear-pluggs, they do not fit my ears,I go with pro-protection then, those big ones like you see on airports….also had a look for custom ones, I might get one of those electronic ones, thinks that might be next project…
If what you have now is due to damage to your hearing (which is probably unlikely) then it can get worse, if you do more damage to your hearing. However if you’re on the ball about it, it’s not hard to avoid doing more damage.
You can make it better by training your brain to filter out the noise but I havent tried it yet, it’s a lot of work.
But I’d give it some time befoer you look into all that its probably just a temp thing you dont sound like a high risk person
That said, if you constantly abuse your ears with loud headphones and going out, and never have a break from it, it will do you real damage.
I used to get that really badly but since not going raving (for a year) or using headphones my ears are getting much better.
Still get the odd ringing which is very annoying but nowhere near as bad. I think if the damage is not too serious your body will fix itself after a length of time (and rest)
Also could be an infection, A mate at work had ringing in his ears and it turned into a very serious ear infection. Get yourself to the docs mate and see what’s going on! Hope you feel better soon!

i get it from sniffing ketamine :s not tinnitus but when your ear loses a frequency and dies slightly… think that is on the road to tinnitus anyway.
my left ear drum is fucked from years of playing the decks and going to hardstyle/hardcore parties. dont think ive suffered from tinitus that much though.
LOL my left ear is more fucked cos my speakers are on the left of my bed where i lay and go on my laptop…. sub is on level with my ear.

is that permanent or does it wear off when you sober up?

Well i take it when your ear rings for a few seconds it’s it losing a frequency and dying (so i’m told) so it doesn’t wear off but it doesn’t happen as much so i guess the answer is it does wear off.
Someone told me last week that if you cook it up in a pan the metal comes off on non-stick pans (teflon) and is what causes ear ringing. Don’t know how true that is.
I dont think its true that a small amount of ear ringing correlates to the loss of a frequency. Everyone gets that occassionally, it’s more likely to do with your brain confusing signals temporarily (which is what tinitus is)
However my ear damage took place during a period when I was abusing the wonk hard so I do wonder if it was related. I was also sitting with studio headphones on making music loudly for 6 hour periods so was probablyh more to do with that, but when I do wonk now I get ear pain in my bad ear so wonder if it’s slowly eating away at it
Another reason not to do wonk..
