There have been two deaths in Reading in the last 24 hours due to contaminated heroin. It is thought it may be Rohypnol, as Narcan (used as a Herion antidote has had no effect in these cases) and this can be caused by Rohypnol. As these deaths are so recent there is not too much information but due to how sudden and severe of these cases have been please try a smaller amount first. And try to warn as many users as you can, we don’t need anymore deaths. I will inform you as soon as I have anymore information…
better make this one a sticky thread sounds pretty severe!!
Thanks for the information ceridavies and welcome to partyvibe.
Wish it were under better circumstances

Hi Ceridavies,
Where did you get info about about a 3rd death in Reading? I haven’t heard anything about this.
John
I think there may be a bit of confusion arising from two very similar threads being merged here. Sorry about that John.
AFAIK there are only two deaths – no signs in the media of any others as yet.
Two heroin users have died in Bristol today, 30/11/06. No further info available at moment but could be same bad batch that has also killed users in London and Reading in November.

Deadly heroin overdoses could soar with surge in Afghan opium production, UN warns
5 October 2006 – The world’s health authorities should prepare for a significant increase in the number of deaths from heroin overdoses following a dramatic surge in opium production in Afghanistan this year, the United Nations top narcotics fighter has warned.
“This, in turn, is likely to prompt a substantial increase in the number of deaths by overdose as addicts are not used to injecting doses containing such high concentrations of the drug,” he added.
“I therefore strongly encourage you, the local health authorities and the community drug treatment centres in your country to take every possible measure in the period ahead and to alert practitioners to the possible risk increase.”

I am very upset to find this warning now when AFAIK it never made it to the people on the ground :hopeless: :hopeless: :hopeless:
Multiple drug deaths are causing concern in Ireland’s capital 05/12/06
There are a series of toxicology reports being carried out on six drug users who it is likely died from heroin overdoses.
Police have confirmed that Oxford was hit over the weekend by a spate of heroin-related incidents, with twelve overdoses reported. Nine people were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, of which “five were kept in for observation.”
Both the hospital and police have stated that they believe that the overdoses have been caused by a “particularly pure batch of heroin which has reached Oxford’s streets.” In such cases it is particularly common for these types of overdoses to occur, when users are not aware of the purity of the batch and misjudge their consumption.
Two men have been found dead in separate locations in Coventry from what police are warning could be a bad batch of heroin.
Three drug users have died in a week after injecting themselves with “contaminated” heroin, police fear.
Two men and a woman, aged in their 20s, died in separate incidents while a fourth man remains seriously ill.
Syringes and drugs paraphernalia were recovered near the victims at both addresses in Hackney, east London.
