    I think it is around here somewhere, is that correct?

    From what I know, this is one hell of a good event. Check last years pics if you don’t believe me. So tempted to get a passport and go, but it would be a real squeeze for me 🙁

    here is the map distortion style;

    But it all starts as block-party wednesday(29.05) in Nørrebro, moves to Vesterbro thursday(30.05) then ends as seen on the map above friday(31.05) still as a free block-party, the final party(saturday 01.06) you have to pay or work(remember that for 2014 we need volunteers, some DJ works as volunteers to get a space just as you know it, its all about the PARTY!!) to get in + the night parties in different clubs or spaces staged up for an event is also on the pay list….

    This would be the mother of all PV meet ups

    PVR stage next year?

    and here are some words from a journalist that had his second go at distortion last year;

    Report From Distortion Festival 2012 – Stereogum

    As the sun came up on Copenhagen, I got back to my hotel just as many of fellow music journalist nerd friends were drunk tweeting from the Primavera Festival in Spain. I fell asleep thinking about the difference between Distortion and a gazillion other more traditional music festivals I’ve attended. While it certainly caters outright to electronic music and less to marquee name bands, Distortion succeeds at something that few other festivals could even attempt. Each day the festival embeds itself in a different neighborhood in the city (for which the streets are closed and everyone is encouraged to chill the fuck out and do whatevs)

    ‘whatevs’ in this context means flat out;

    Some pictures from the production area today….

    While the party is going wild in the streets, we give our working crew some treats; cold beers and babercue.

    (No beers for the ones that serving cars, carts, forklift, boom lifts etc…that means no beer for me)

    A video of the party breaking loose;

    Se Distortion bryde ud på Nørrebro – Politiken.dk

    raaa

    Police sez there was over 100 000 people….

    PartyON!

    BTW I got some picts from the streets, I will upload them when I get to my desktop.

    Here we go;

    Party ON!

    impressive too that the whole community allows this party in what must be a main route (as I see a 40 km/h speed limit and normally in European towns its 30 km/h), in England it is really difficult to do anything in the main street as drivers complain to the Council or even still try to drive into where the people are (and the organisers have to then pay for offiical traffic closure and a cop car to make sure people obey the traffic laws).

    Last week the local sports club put this letter through my door with what was basically a grovelling apology they were having a 10km running race on the street by me and they might be running on my street at the weekend. They would only be on my street for about 30 seconds and then the route goes elsewhere to the countryside, but they are expected to do this to avoid problems further down the line.

    At least this time they seemed able to do it without a special license application though I suspect its also because I do not live in a “posh” area where more people complain (these people even got the carnivals restricted in some areas and stuff for scouts and guides and celebrating the Queen and military etc which surely are traditional English things…)

    strange thing is in England we are very good at organising events for older middle class people, for instance there is the agricultural show this week, and multicultural people who work in business but we neglect providing for our young people especially if they are not openly spending loads of money.

    Yet shops are closing everywhere in Europe so surely the night time economy if run well and safe can provide valuable revenue?
