I noticed the sign big gadefester = gadearmbånd and thought it was something to do with that (but initially put å in the wrong word and mistranslated it as “mystery parties”)
that is a smart idea though so those who are older and might not take part can’t complain their taxes are being used to subsidise it (I suspect though they just take holiday and go sailing in boats to the UK as there was 75% increase in visitors to Ipswich last year)
We have some public funding for the street parties. But they are giving that with one hand and taking it back with the other when we pay the clean up ++….+ the tax income of the spinn-offs…all in all its a win win…
Next years Distortion is going to have less focus on the block parties, but they gonna be there but under a different form. We will focus on the Harbor Party and Final Party (that mean heavier work load on me and my lot….) + the club nights….
One thing that will always be one of the main attractions is our raverbus 666….thats where it all started…
let see what the future brings ATM the block parties costs more than our income…so sumtin must be done, like selling more support stuff. Its all about the Party innit? And we are not giving up. We going to throw a hell of a party that everyone could be a part of.
Party ON! raaa

They do have this to a lesser extent in my town, sometimes with the EU giving some money. if the tax money is also going back to the council and it can be proven it (and we all pay some heavy tax on beer) then even the “free market” lot can’t complain.
I expect the public sector might even make a small profit from this event, there are hardly any cops or ambulances compared to something similar in the UK.
in my area they do not turn up just for the fun of it, they can (and do) show off their vehicles at the countryside show in less stressful situations, they are there because they are needed to get people who have overdone it to a place of safety.
The young people in Norfolk did a licensed event a few years back and it needed air ambulance helicopter because someone had OD’d – the event crew didn’t even follow up what happened to him, I had to look on the Police press office website to check (he made a full recovery in hospital thanks to our NHS). I think I ended up sending £20 donation to the air ambulance myself as that is run as a charity in the UK (land ambulances are paid for from NHS budget).

TBH I think it must surely be one of the main music events in Northern Europe by now as NL and DE are not doing so many non commercialised events nor are they advertising them as internationally as before.
