  • Rave is causing traffic problems

About 700 revellers at an illegal music event in north Northamptonshire are being monitored by police.

Anyone now attempting to join the large crowd at Deanthorpe near Corby is being turned away at roadblocks.

Police were called to the event in the early hours after reports of noise from traffic around the village.

Police are talking to organisers to close down the rave and officers are consulting with residents, although there were no noise complaints.

A police spokesman warned: “We have set out a clear message – don’t come because you won’t be allowed in.”

Supt Peter Glover said: “A large number of people arrived at the site in the early hours.

“There is no issue with noise levels but we did receive complaints about road vehicle and we’re now not allowing anyone else on to the site.”

Saddened to hear a rumour of people assaulted .
i hope they are ok .

one assault made the mainstream media – if anyone gets attacked to the point they require NHS treatment, the policy in some regions is for the Ambulance Service to inform the Police and the media – they do not pass on names unless the victim asks for this or wants to press charges, but the authorities still take note that the assault happened at an “illegal rave” and it shapes the level of enforcement used at subsequent events. Bear in mind the only real reason these events were once tolerated was because they had less trouble than mainstream pubs and clubs!

A man suffered serious head injuries at an illegal rave yesterday.
Police were called after revellers started arriving at a field between Deenethorpe and Upper Benefield in the early hours of Sunday morning.

They discovered later that a man had been assaulted by another party-goer who had to be taken to hospital after he was left with serious head and shoulders injuries.

It is not yet known if the man is local but police were questioning people at the rave yesterday and appealed for information.

Following reports of traffic problems around the village, officers started blocking off the roads near the site in the morning and warned party-goers to stay away.

Around 60 vehicles were parked in the field.

Chief inspector Max Williams said they spoke to the organisers to put a stop to the rave and spent yesterday turning people away.

Officers said there were no noise nuisance reports from the site and traffic flowed freely

corby!!! right the to my home town. been to a couple of parties around that area. always had a laugh.. shame about that assault.

i didnt see it happen, but some bloke got hit round the head with a hammer, causing the tunes to go off and lots of smaller fights and arguments to go off. not what you want at party and properly put everyone on edge for a while. i left soon after that so dont know what happened after wards. :you_crazy

there seems to be various unresolved running battles between various factions on the SE England scene; I remember this sort of bullshit happening as early as 2003/4 even during the “good times..”

although less weapons were used there has also been beef at the East anglian parties in recent times..

all this achieves is doing the cops’ work for them as its now impossible to argue that “free parties are safer” as there seems to be exactly the same amount of fights/incidents as the better run legal dance music events of equivalent sizes!

Most of my family live in corby proberly had a few relatives go to the party. Gonna get on the phone and ask.
