it is not that simple to get a decent photograph of the Moon. You don’t need a whole NASA type setup but at the very least a decent Japanese camera with telephoto lens and a solid tripod; otherwise what looks pretty with the naked eye will just look rough on screen.
I have tried but I live on a housing estate and its difficult to point cameras into the distance without making neighbours paranoid; and although I could just about get a mini tripod into my pannier bags and there is a nice spot without too much light pollution it means standing around outside in North European winter weather which isn’t much fun.
