drugs are just another chemical compound (admittedly a rather more complex one) – same as salt, or chalk, or acetone, or xylene…
a basic education in what chemical compounds are (to around GCSE level) should be enough for people to realise these are different.

You don’t even need to be really brainy; I flunked my A-level chemistry and still have some idea of the structure of different compounds, although I never quite understood what oxidation numbers were/are
Actually when I was at high school science education and drug education were combined to an extent (in my case both officially and unofficially :laugh_at:)
