its a (now obsolete) Garmin GPS unit. I’ve now got an Etrex HC for his purpose. I understand you may actuallly be in Pakistan (whilst I know there is a culture of hiding your country you don’t need to do that here, wer’re cool about you being from Asia (I’m Asian too!) provided you’re here to be part of the community genuinely and not just try and sell things.
whilst I’m sure you can buy a GPS from a electronic supplier, I’d be careful about using it in some areas where there is high military presence.
That said, my friend went back to his native Pakistan and regularly rode an old style British design bicycle across all the Punjab borders (between IN and PK) without much incident, other than he said the lack of modern gears and poor road surface knackered his knees. I would suggest a decent mountain bicycle with 21 gears or even an e-bike (I’m sure the Chinese sell them to you lot) if you wish to repeat his journey. Two of the bikes featured are e-bikes, they are longer and have a big battery in the middle (its like a giant laptop battery).
A Chinese guy old enough to be our parents rode one on the new Silk Road all the way to the Pakistan border…
