At least this time round people are moving there to escape one rather than to start one, and Frau Merkel (plus at least half the population) do seem to genuinely realise that “Western” hunger for private transport, consumption and cheap fuel is a big reason as to why these folk have turned up to start with (they didn’t come for the weather or hospitality).
What is equally impressive is that the area mentioned wasn’t exactly trouble free when the refugees first arrived but has since settled down – where Frau Merkel and her CDU party are mistaken is they think that if they hope/pray enough that extra public services for 3000 more people in a small village will appear out of the sky rather than collecting taxes off the rich and/or setting them up yourselves.
I’m surprised though that Germans hadn’t taken to cricket earlier, given the complex rules and that a fair bit of maths in required to keep track of the scores…
