  • i dont think we should have suicide watch though, people serving life in prison should be able to end their own life

what is called “suicide watch” in the UK by the tabloids often isn’t just a security procedure to stop the prisoner taking their own lives, its also to stop other prisoners taking matters into their own hands and execute them. Violent scum including nonces try and execute another prisoner they feel is “worse” to make themselves feel better and harder.

For instance the prisoner who scalded Ian Huntley was a crackhead who robbed a young mother – another prisoner who attacked the Yorkshire Ripper was himself inside for murdering a shop worker in cold blood who dared to challenge him for shoplifting.

I’d allow consensual euthanasia of a prisoner provided their organs are recovered by the NHS, many young killers are physically healthy and lots of bits of them could be recycled… however even this could be problematic, as all sorts of things could happen behind closed doors. already in some countries young political dissidents are being put down and their organs sold on the black market!

one thing to be wary of is that the EU have not completely removed the option for the death penalty. Any member state could reintroduce it, provided they declare their country at a state of war and a state of emergency. This get out clause exists in the EU human rights laws! I believe some of the former Soviet satellite states are angry at having had to remove the death penalty as part of EU membership..

heh prisoner recycling.. yeah could be very open to abuse there is already a lot of corruption with prison staff. it still amazes me though that euthanasia is illegal.. of all the rights to deny people.. im gonna keep me a stash of opium and go out gracefully when the time is right

Do you guys think it’ll change if they bring the death penalty back? I don’t think people will stop doing crazy stuff. Some people will keep doing crazy things with or without the death penalty. But that’s just me :you_crazy

    Hi all ,
Well this is my take on the death penalty and its a yes but only under certain circumstances . I think repeat offenders of rape , child molesters and murderers should get the death penalty . However i dont believe stoneing or hanging or beheading should be the way or the electric chair . I think it should be more humane , yes they have done wrong but death penalty should not be that they suffer , drugs or even carbon monoxide were you fall asleep and dont wake up . Otherwise they lay in jail their whole life or get released and go on to commit more crimes . Yes crimminals are human but more so are the victims , i think jail should be harsher and i think for young offenders maybe National Service . When i say that i dont mean to send them off to war , no get them fit give them a purpose and give them pride . Im ex-forces myself and understand the sense of achievement you can get from getting through even basic training , makes you think well i can make this what else can i do . And the military has a way of breaking you then building you up even more , punish then praise when you do well . Teaches you some self pride , oh and if the instructors decide to throw the odd slap in all well and good , teaches you to respect authority . Not saying we should be all mindless robots of the state , far from it but a respect of authority isnt a bad thing . This may sound like a contradiction in terms but it isnt , your instructors give you shit but by the end they are proud of you and treat you like your their pride and joy . Some may call this brain washing , but for kids that have no sense of order , family or manners its a good way to earn and get respect ……earning and getting respect is impotant . If you feel appreciated you feel better about yourself . And when i was in the forces the bad boys and women that ended up in Colshester Military jail , after tended to be the best , even to a Sergeant saying if i had to go to war i’d want these people to be there with me . And at the same time if these people could be taught a trade as well , then all well and good . I think these people that have fell from society and end up in trouble need help but maybe they need to be taught what they didnt get from their parents …..respect and manners . Give them that and they at least will be better people and hopefully succeed more in life . Just my take ……im no military freak and dont think this be good for all , but the more unruly people around us i think might bennifit from this .

    Regards
    Mungo
ps im sure ill get some shit for this….but if you do just think about what i said

    Hi Californian ,
Im sure your not crazy , but if you was and took lifes or raped many times or moloested kids , then i doubt you would change your ways and so what do you think if you was like that is the best way to cure that ? . Society has rules and ways of life …..civilisation depends on rules , otherwise we’d be doing anything we want…chaos . I dont want a police state , neither do i want chaos , however we should have some sort of standards , and if we all did then life would be better …..singing from the same hymn sheet so to speak ……not a religious thing just we expect a standard social etiquette . Manners cost nothing , i still open doors for women ….even men . Been told by women i can open my own door ? …..yes i know this but i did it cos i was being polite …….no sexist agenda here just being polite . Maybe im old school but fuck sake if some one held the door open for me the polite thing to say is ” thank you ” wether your male , female or from another plannet . Its not some sexiest statement , i was just being polite . I do unto others as i’d do unto me , think thats the best way to say it . Why piss some one off when you wouldnt like it done to yourself , and think also how would i feel in their shoes ……..not as yourself . Shit maybe i should have put this in the rant thread ?

    regards
    Mungo

Malaysia recently reintroduced National Service. Singapore has never stopped making people do NS.

This is what Malaysia’s capital crimes are BTW…

The following is a list of the criminal offenses that carry the death penalty:

    * Waging war against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong – Section 121 Penal Code (see: Al-Ma’unah)
    * Offences against a Ruler[1] – Section 121A Penal Code
    * Abetting mutiny (Armed Forces) – Section 132 Penal Code
    * Murder – Section 302 Penal Code (mandatory) (see: Mona Fandey)
    * Abetment of suicide[2] – Section 305 Penal Code
    * Attempt by life convict to murder, if hurt is caused – Section 307(c) Penal Code (mandatory)
    * Kidnapping or abducting in order to murder – Section 364 Penal Code
    * Hostage taking – Section 374A Penal Code
    * Gang robbery with murder – Section 396 Penal Code
    * Drug trafficking – Section 39B Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (mandatory) (see: Barlow and Chambers execution)
    * Possession of firearms – Section 57 Internal Security Act 1960

In case anyone is wondering who the Yang Di-pertuan Agong is, this is him.. (TBH he looks like he can look after himself anyway!)

Neither MY or SG are third world shitholes, they are highly developed by Asian standards and Singapore is more advanced and efficient than the UK in many respects, but they sacrifice a considerable amount of personal freedom for this perceived stability.

Every time I debate in my head about the death penalty there’s one thing that seems to allways make me decide (regardless of what I would of decided with out this factor) and that’s “What if they are innocent?”. People have been releaced out of jail after 1/2/3+ years after new evidence apears proving them innocent!

    Definitely!

GL, lol at the Death Penalty for attempting suicide :laugh_at: I mean, that’ll teach em.

currently its actually for abetting suicide and its also a crime (though no longer a capital one) in the UK.

Both nations realised (eventually) that the death penalty wasn’t exactly a threat to those attempting suicide (which was also criminalised in the UK until 1961!)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_Act_1961

Malaya (which also contained Singapore) was a Crown Colony of the UK until 1957 – and has retained much of the British system of Government.

The main ethical problem the world over with this is the risk of people being forced to commit suicide as a way of murdering them, or families killing rich elderly relatives to get at their property.

i agree with this but imagine spending the rest of your life in prison when innocent. i think the feeling of being shit on badly would grow stronger by the day, maybe being dead would be better.

then top your self if it came to that .. at least they have a chance to get out again if they are still alive tho. Alltho you still have appeal prosesses if you’re on death row so I’d imagin the same if we had it over here .. and if they arn’t gonna get out on apeal on death row they’ll most likely come to the same conclusion if you were just in prison.

Dunno if i could take my own life, i’m like the Terminator

‘Here. I cannot self-terminate. You must lower me into the steel.’
