I have an LCD TV that I decided to use as a PC monitor, works fine but every time I turn the PC off I have to connect a normal monitor up to the computer to adjust the screen resolution and refresh rate.

The LCD screen is 1440×900 and a refresh rate of 60hz, so I set the PC to this… however when its rebooted it forgets these settings and reverts back to how I used to have it on the old monitor. The LCD screen just says “Invalid format” until I change the settings back.

I cant find any explanation anywhere to why my PC wont remember these setting and its driving me nuts having 2 screens about for my PC.

Anyone know how to stop my PC being a retard, I will throw it out the window shortly if it decides to carry on playing silly buggers!

Now i’m not very technical, unless i’m highly motivated, cos i’m inherently lazy… but i dont think throwin it out the window will improve the situation.

i think you need to display resolution! 😉

na .. what are u useing to connect your tv to your pc? and are you using duel monitors? .. ie. both at the same time?

what kind of input are you using to plug your PC into your TV? I had problems when trying to put my laptop through my TV Monitor when using the vga output from my laptop, so I bought a hdmi – dvi cable and it now works fine. Your pc got an HDMI output at all?

standard VGA cable from the PC to the back of the TV….

Grr I fecking hate computers sometimes… It worked fine the first time I turned on the PC today, so in my excitement that it was now working I rebooted to see and nope its being retarded again :hopeless:

It will display all the way through booting up then goes at the log in screen.

your keyboard have a ‘fn’ key next to control?if so press that + f8 and that should toggle the screen onto your monitor.it works on laptops but i can’t remember if desktop keyboards have the function button.

if not then try and find out what combination toggles between screens with your pc and hit that when the screen goes blank at login
