After last month’s successful night , which saw Idioteque dj’s – Floyd and Sinky deliver a showstoppping set of rave, rock, techno and hip-hop, diy disco returns with another exciting line-up. This month we present an ‘It’s Time To Jack!’ Special, with both the headline and warm-up dj’s playing a mainly US influenced jackin’ style of House. Enjoy!

    About DIY Disco:

DISILLUSIONED with the abundance of overpriced clubs playing music for the masses and the lack of affordable club nights playing credible music, we decided to do something about it, and so diy disco was born. The music policy of the night is electronic music for dancing – basically this means we will consider pretty much any style of dance music. The idea being, that as long as people are dancing and having a good time, it doesn’t matter if the tunes are upfront, underground or all time club classics. Every month will feature talented local dj’s in the warm-up slot.

    Line-up:

Over the past seven years CRAIG HAMILTON and his trademark jackin’ house sound have been rocking the likes of the Sub Club, Soundhaus, Gazelle & Liquid Lounge. Currently on the dj roster at Radio Magnetic, his Static radio show has been showcasing jackin’ house for the past three years.

Previous guest mixes have been supplied by international dj’s such as Bryan Jones, Troydon and Sound Republic, as well as local talent like Chris Mac and Grant Clayton. After signing his Yo DJ! track to Control Recordings in Chicago(US), Craig is currently concentrating on more of his own productions and his successful Chi-Town Baby! club night.

ESTEBAN CARRACAS is Craig’s former co-host of Static and a co- founder of both the Chi-Town Baby! and Audio Ice-Cream club nights. Currently he can be found behind the decks fortnightly Fridays at Bar Ten with Chris Mac and guesting at various nights across Glasgow, including Kinky Afro and Bumpin’.

Next up is The Institute for Electronic Artist’s head honcho KENNY BREAKS. This big, gangly (and depressingly slim) lad has been getting about a bit lately, what with The Institute show on Sub City radio, regular gigs in both Edinburgh and Glasgow and the monthly Institute networking events. For Diy Disco, ‘The Breaks Machine’ has promised us an energetic nu-school breaks set, manipulating the turntables and effects to bend your mind and move your feet, “do not resist the beat.”

DIY DISCO presents Graeme Hurst and Daniel Gregory; residents and
organisers of the night. With a music policy that encompasses all that is good in House, together with a love of Breaks and experimentation, DIY Disco are a dj and production duo with tracks signed to UL and Innovate. They’ve organised and played at nights at The Vault, O’Henrys and Strathclyde Uni. With over 10 years experience of playing out, they’re always looking to surprise and excite with their blend of jackin’ house and breaks.

WARM-UP this month will be supplied from Colin McKay, a former resident at Pangea in Edinburgh. After a superb warm-up slot at last month’s event, which saw him receive a warm reception from both the crowd and dj’s, we just had to get him back to play. Most recently he’s played at the Elbow Rooms and will again be looking to bring his US influenced house to diy disco’s warm-up slot.

    STOP PRESS!
Diy Disco Summer parties are currently under production. Diy Disco
will be decanting from Basura Blanca over the summer for a couple of one-off parties. Expect nothing less than the finest Electronic Music for Dancing.

LIne-up’s and details will be announced shortly.

Looks like a top night. Control Recordings have done no wrong so far.

I met Craig the other day there, he’s promised a “banger”, i think i know what he means 🙂
