but there’s nothing wrong with adding vitamins to food. wait.. unless making people healthier is a bad thing?
we are much taller and have a far longer life-span than people had before kelloggs and burger king were around, so these foods can’t be that damaging for us.
Native people in DK, NL and DE are taller and healthier / longer living than folk in the UK though, without eating food full of additives…
maybe they’re all just freaks, there is such a thing as too tall.
but still, if all this food was so bad for us then everyone would be stumpy and dead at the age of 20. i can use myself as an example as i sometimes go through periods of time when i’m really happy that i just scoff mcdonalds like, everyday. and i’m taller than the average female. 😀
UK food with additives (at least controlled by EU rules) is obviously better than not having enough food, or having food with less safety controls and more additives (such as in the USA and China) both of which do make people unhealthy… in the USA there is a lot of food with little nutritional value which makes folk obese, in China blatantly dangerous chemicals find their way into foodstuffs..
What is going on in Denmark is also a way of asserting national sovereignty over the EU and big corporates – the UK also do it but to a lesser extent, its more aimed against the EU “getting in the way of business” whilst tolerating powerful American companies and agribusiness..
In Germany they are also quite fussy about their food, Walmart/ASDA went out of business there as they refused to accept both German food regs and the peoples purchasing patterns..
the food is crap if it needs added vitamins, they can make as it should be, adding here and there, where does it stop? it takes away the focus of it is bad, start adding things do not change that
I don’t even think Marmite is that bad for you but what I admire more is the Danish having the colllective strength to stand up against a big commercial business run by a rich neighbour and long term trading partner, and and tell them “either you make the product to our quality standards, or you cannot do business in our country”, as there are economic costs in doing so -therefore it takes real guts to do that at a time of economic depression.
Pfff. Shows Denmark havn’t really got anything else better to do in the world than ban Marmite, which sounds ridiclous. ‘Cus I love Marmite!

However, some things like E numbers need to be added. It helps preserve food for transport, helps fight mould in the packageing etc etc. Most people think E numbers are bad but they are there for a reason.
“But if they want to take my Marmite off me they’ll have to wrench it from my cold dead hands.”
:laugh_at:
E number just means a chemical has been approved for food use in the EU and isn’t intended to be a judgement on how safe or dangerous it is – thats ultimately decided by international consensus, but also the govt of each sovereign nation has the right to decide what laws they have even if they vary from EU consensus.
Many colourings and additives found in food when I was a boy are now discouraged throughout the EU if not banned outright.
e-numbers is another discussion …we are talking of adding vitamins in food that is crap at first, but some vitamins added, it looks healthier…….
Ahh I see. Still same sort of thing I guess. Adding needed vitamins is surely a good thing isnt it as Harriet said?
Denmarks a boring contry anyway. Always first on drug laws. :crazy_dru
