  • Hi everyone, im new to the site and just wondering if people still chat about their experiences of taking different legal highs on here? im in the uk. my story is quite unusual – i used to take legal highs but stopped when i was at uni cos of some bad experiences and now im a scientist examining the psychoactive effects of legal highs. so ironically my hobby 7 years ago has become my full time job! would really like to here from some people. 🙂

they do, although posts which clearly appear to be “viral marketing” of a “branded” substance are not allowed here nor blatant selling of even “legal” stuff, as much for the protection of those doing it (as posts on this site have been used in intelligence gathering against people doing so and have resulted in their home addresses being raided by special Police units.

The UK and many other countries have drug, poison control and food safety legislation that actually go back some centuries and can still be used today to justify Police action whilst remaining compliant with modern EU and UN human rights laws.

What we do encourage here is for those experimenting with such substances to avoid the branded blends and try and source pure and correctly labelled substances and to ascertain safe dosage levels/usage patterns. To some extent harm reduction is easier with the remaining non controlled substances than street drugs of wildly varying purity, availability and composition, which is probably why even the UK Government (and more so mainland EU countries) aren’t rushing to ban the remaining ones.

TBH my experience with cathinones was that they were normally exactly what they said on the tin, and initially similar to MDMA but had harsher after effects. They tended not to cause as many problems with those users the other side of age 30 as this generation had been brought up to be wary of what could be in the pills/powder anyway, and to moderate their use accordingly, though I can fully understand how the emotional rollercoaster these substances cause added to the stresses of a younger person growing in their teens/20s caused a lot more carnage.
