i bet if you go back into history you’d find that it went on long before the british empire.

indeed, they succesfully used the scum of Britain (brutalised by the criminal justice system) to brutalise the natives and take over

George Monbiot mentioned how the British public/prep school system also helps enforce this mentality and it still holds power today.

And yes he went to one and so did I (although I had the “benefit” of both private and state education which is may be why I can get on with a very wide group of people yet also sometimes lead a very solitary (but not sociopathic) lifestyle without cracking up…

Its not exacly Industrial ethnic cleansing. The australians & americans ethnicly cleansed there own natives. The brits didnt go after the natives in America in any huge way fact. The brits saved the Mohawk & several other tribes of indians from enilation by resettling them in canada after the war of independence. fact.

i’m not saying the brits are inocent of several atocitys during the empire years but we didnt commit wholescale ethnic cleansing or genaside. We did have consentration camps durig the boar war but we wernt the first to use them.

i’ve had a ‘to doo’ with old moonboots when he came pokeing his nose into a travelers site eviction in london, hes always after putting his angle on a story but not saying how it is as he lives in left wing cookcoo land.

Hes not far off the mark with use one lot of poor folk to put another set of poor folk down. Thats war for you though init Northern Ireland is your prime example…

Monbiot but clearly came from a very priveliged background, and thats the only way he gets away with saying a lot of the stuff he does its a bit like his family and the Establishment are still enduring his “teenage rebellion” except he’s pushing 50 now I guess :laugh_at:also never seems to offer much in the way of solutions, only problems

I may have vaguely seen this but in the pre-Internet days i’d normally only read in depth the first bit of the Grauniad (with the Real news such as crime / bosnia and kosovo war) – the G2 would go in the cat litter tray as I always the content was pretentious Islington circuit arty crap but it was just the right size for the litter tray…

I don’t have cats now so am glad for the net as I only need to read the interesting bits of a newspaper and it means the worthless art journos aren’t making cash off my back..

As they grew up, one would mew the house down for food at every opportunity (when he wasn’t sleeping) and destroy telecoms cables and other infrastructure – the other depleted the area of many rare bird and mammal species (bats, thrushes, robins etc).
