hi all hows it going? any of you clever smart PV people know much about laptops?

problem is with a samsung R530, everytime it boots it goes on to samsung recovery, i’ve set it back to the first date on there and now its stuck on the recovery and i can’t get to the log on screen.

I can hold f8 and boot in safe mode and i uninstalled samsung recovery solutions 4 when in safe mode but when i restart it still boots up in recovery

anyone know whats going on?

i took the battery out and unplugged it overnight but its the same today.

when it starts up in safe mode its like new but i can’t start it normally. cheers

seems like its landed on the deck at least once and hard drive is crashed/corrupted

get a new hard drive for it, reinstall Windows etc on it (hopefully you or someone will still have the DVD what came with it)

if you want to salvage at least some of your data keep the old hard drive, and mount it on another machine as a extra volume, you can then copy the files across..

It’s just started normally and is beeping and the cursor is moving all over on its own:weee:

I’ts a mates i’m trying to get going but he’s getting a new one tomorow so its not worth him getting a new hard drive

i’ve also found out he’s not had any kind of anti virus for the past 2 years so i’m scanning it for dodgy stuff

You could always try reformatting (wiping everything) the hardrive it with windows cd (perhaps its got it’s own?). That’s if you don’t have any data you have on it and uh aren’t too bothered about potentially ‘un-genuine-ing’ your windows installation.

You could also try a ubuntu live cd :D? (to recover the data too possibly)
