Dear sir /madam
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
I have been informed that a staffordshire Bull terrier is being kept at number (
) in contravention to the house rules. Dogs may be kept at the building with the freeholders consent. No application has been made for this animal. The breed is not considered suitable for living in the confines of a small private flat so I can inform you that permission is unlikely to be granted . Furthermore the dog has been seen on the grounds unleashed. Dogs of this type are perceived as being dangerous and a number of residents have expressed their concerns about the safety of our children using the grounds and common ways when the animal is at large. Please can you make sure that it is removed immediately.
A quick google search will show you that staffies are not amongst the top ten dogs most likely to bite you:

Unfortunately we didn’t check up on the freeholder (the big company that run the building of flats) and went only to my landlord (who granted permission )
I have spoke to by next door neighbour who has printed a letter for me in response to the above stating the dog is perfectly behaved and he feels the claim is malicious and groundless.
Later today as Jay walked bruno, he saw a couple watching him out their balcony and thought ‘ffs !’ a few minutes later an old man knocks on the doors saying ‘ I here you have had a complaint about your new dog and if you need support my wife and I will write a letter for you.
Now, word on the grapevine is the woman who complained is the owner of a springer spainial who is a nervous wreck and never allowed to mix with other dogs. It also bark wildly at anything with wheels (like my pushchair )

Does anyone have any advise how I should go about this ? *cough* gl *cough*
This is such a bummer, If I am forced to remove the dog, I will just move to another place and deal with the money issues. Hes not a commodity and another move may well traumatize him.
Oh also the RSPCA do not re-home staffys, they get destroyed even if they are a few months old 🙁
pics ?
Every Staffy I have ever met has been lovely, it’s the way you train the animal not the breed…
The only thing you can do mate is to try and get the permission retrospectively, but it doesn’t sound promising. My next-door neighbour just had the same problem a couple of weeks ago and that was with a husky pup. He had to have it re-homed sadly, hopefully you won’t have to do the same.
In the meantime, the only thing you can do is to make sure it’s on a lead at ALL times when he’s outside your flat and try and see if anyone you know may want a dog, or could take him for a couple of weeks if your application’s turned down, during which time, you put in another application and see what the outcome is then.
Aww mate, that’s well shitty. I’m not sure about much what to do, but I’d definitely try and gather as much evidence as you can to defend your case.
I fucking hate moaning jobsworth fuckers like that. Sorry for the bad loggy mouth but it really makes me angry when people do snide things like this. I’m gonna look into someting for you in the mean time. There may be some black spot between landlord and freeholders that may mean they have no right to tell you what can be done. But let me look inot it as it may be a long shot.
aww this is too sad :/… maybe there is a way to reason with them, show them some cute pics or something
Well I call bullshit on this one. I’ve met this dog last week and he’s adorable. From the few days I spent at the Izbeck HQ it was clear the dog was well behaved and in the presence of responsible owners, who walked him at least twice a day. Poor little fella does still need the chop though, but after that I can’t see any problem arising other than the prejudice of the whingey gits who think he’ll grew up to become a child chomper.
If you need me to write a letter of support let me know and I’ll get on it. Hope things go your way.
A staffy ate my lunch once. I was in therapy for YEARS.
I’m sure it’ll work out though. If the landlord has given you permission it should be fine I think.

this is a difficult one as its a rented house, and the freeholders are often paranoid about being sued or a resident withholding rent and there is more demand than supply. It appears the freeholders may be London based and just going by the advice from metpol rather than considering each individual case.
Round here in Ipswich even though the rescues do rehome staffys there is zero chance of me getting one as a single British Asian male below age 50 fits the profile of “status dog owner” (most staffys go to the middle aged couples whose kids and grandkids have moved away and end up as family pets in houses full of other dogs, cats and all sorts else) – and this causes folk from other parts of the region to judge my entire estate as “rough” because they see loads of 60-70 year olds walking staffys!
even Singapore allows both the Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the Amstaff in social housing (which has some of the most strict rules in the world regarding pets) – and its not very common to see a situation where SG is more lenient than Europe! (the dogs must have license and a behaviour test though I think that is also still common in some Northern European nations).
that said support from the older generation might help. I’ve noticed a lot of this generation are actuallly far more liberal minded and tolerant than they may seem at first glance…
Amstaffs are totally banned in DK. It have to be born before a certain date, you can not let anyone else take care of it at all. If I die Liloo dies…That ban was decided in june in 2011 and back(!?!) 2 months. So all amstaffs born after that date was executed…
Even UK is not as bad, the Conservatives were making a fuss about Metpol spending money on kennels for seized dogs whlst they are checked out but the head policeman from the Status Dogs Unit told them that “dogs have as much right to a fair trial as humans do, even more so that they might face death penalty when the whole EU has removed it for humans”.
Even some dogs from banned breeds have been returned after neutering and tagging (I think some get sent up here as well because its a more rural area)
