Does anyone here bring there dogs to parties? Why do people bring there dogs to free parties?
My dog is always with me, period. Free party or not, Liloo have been touring with me for the last 7 years and have no problem whatsoever with it.
Is it just a little companionship thing then, I heard one bloke at a party i went to saying he brought his so if the police come they cant use there dogs because it’s a against health and safety or something :s
My dog goes with me just about everywhere so yes to parties also. Its not a problem having dogs at a party as long as they are not running wildly out of control or fighting amongst themselves.
My dog is very well behaved and is loose while I am awake and yes its a company thing really – the dogs at parties are also much better at spotting dodgy f’ckers than the humans are

by and large people bring dogs to parties for the same reason they take them anywhere else with them.
What the chap says is only partly true and not a good strategy for him, the party or his pet.
It is true cops may not want to risk an a drugs dog (which is usually a smaller and less aggressive breed) being attacked (Essex give them stab proof vests!) but senior Police dog handlers are trained to deal with and control strange dogs as well as their own ones – and have a variety of equipment and tactics at hand (including a dog-sized riot shield with a electric charge!) Other organisations such as the local Council dog warden and certain officers of Defra / Natural England (who also have this training and equipment.
Anyone actively trying to use their own dog to discourage Police dogs of any sort is quite likely to have it seized and could face a variety of charges including animal welfare charges.
Luckily for the dogs, both traditional British values and EU animal welfare rules mean they too have a right to a fair trial, so unless they are really dangerous will not be destroyed (even banned breeds are sometimes spared) but the owner still could end up losing their pet as it is usually rehomed in an area 100s of miles away (often a different country of the UK) with the new owners details being kept confidential by the animal welfare organisation handling the rehoming (details of which are also not disclosed to the previous owner) for their safety and protection.
also if coppers get it into their heads that they are going to have “status dogs” used against them for “area denial purposes” (even if its just a bluff or bragging and this chap had brought along a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel :laugh_at:) ) they start classing parties as “serious organised crime” and put aside more resources to stop them.
I’m a huge fan of animals and I turn into a big slushy puddle of love when I see them anywhere. There’s one guy in the Bucks area who regularly brings his two dogs to parties and in the morning they run around off the leads and say hello to everyone – all very heart-warming 🙂
However, I’ve always had a couple of reservations and maybe someone who has dogs can clear these up for me:
– Don’t dogs have very sensitive hearing? Isn’t is confusing/disorientating/painful to be near such incredibly loud music and deep bass?
– Is it safe for the dogs, what with people stumbling around all over the place in the dark and whatnot?
From a personal perspective, I don’t mind seeing dogs at parties at all, until I’m spanked out of my face, at which point I find it quite an alien experience. But that’s the substances, not the animals 🙂
Also, has anyone who’s taken their dogs to a party gotten any verbal abuse for it? Like, people saying it’s not fair on the animals or whatever? I always imagine you might catch the shitty end of someone a little over-zealous.
A friend of mine said that back in the day she used to see pikeys fighting dogs at raves. It was often where they’d meet up to actually fight them and take bets etc. That sounds completely hideous, and I’ve no doubt whatsoever that any of the people I party with would try and peacefully put a stop to that kind of behaviour.
WRT loud music and dogs – this is not a problem unless the dog is restrained in front of the rig or the rig is distorting like mad; unlike us dogs have more sense than to stand in front of something hurting their ears….
I have broken up dog fights at parties but they were not the kind people were betting on – just humans too wet to get stuck in enough to separate fighting dogs [all the while standing around going stop it _____ in a wet tone of voice ]

I had to do this at reclaime the beach earlyer in the year. Some dog started trying to attack this other dog. The owner of the dog getting attacked jumped up real fast and picked up his dog (I’ve never seen someone semi In a khole move so fast LOL!) but the other dog was jumping up on him and trying to get at the other dog … I jumped inbetween him and the dog with really wide arms and started growling visiously at the dog … who shit himself and ran off. (I’m normaly fluffy but can be scary if I need to be lol)
Reminded me of something GL was saing about him meowing at cats to scare them off when they were trying to attack the cat he’d made friends with.:laugh_at:
(had to do this a few times till the owner of the other dog appeared … we was shouting for then to come take there dog but for about 5 mins we couldn’t even find his owner … was half way across the party!

Nice one, thanks for the feedback. I’m actually looking forward to saying hi to some party dogs on saturday.

the kind of people what did this tended to cause other problems to decent travellers on the site (especially women and kids who often were controlled and bullied by these plastic pikeys) and over the years with the help of the various travellers advice organisations, the RSPCA, Defra and even the feds travellers doing this sort of thing got strongly discouraged. Settled people (even ravers) aren’t as intimidated by travellers nor do others hero worship their lawlesness as folk once did so (and thus overlook this unpleasant behaviour) whilst it still happens its not the sort of thing done in open view any more.
I know a fair few travellers what would just leave a site where that sort of fuckery is going on (even if they didn’t want to go as far as tipping off the authorities) and they are the kind what actually do useful and honest work etc and negotiate with cops/landowners and stop the sites being evicted / constantly watched and searched, so its a big loss to these idiots when these good folk leave and means that the remainder are judged more harshly.
^ Totally agree with the points you’ve made and just to clarify, I only use the word ‘pikeys’ when I’m meaning plastic, trouble-making travellers/ex-travellers. I’ve raved with travellers and used to live in a community that fused harmoniously with the traveller site nearby so I’ve had mainly good experiences. I was raised in squats, sit-ins and various-sized political communes so I can appreciate the life they’re trying to lead and the culture they want to protect in some ways. A pikey is a pikey, and the two don’t have much to do with each other from my experience. 🙂
Liloo put her head inside bass-bins on full force if she find a good sent there, she couldnt care less about techno(recorded music), some live music on the other hand she is not that found of, but she goes in the stage when bands she knows are playing, and sleeps in front of the kick drum. It all matter of what the dog feels safe of. Like when you train hunting dogs at a shooting range. So you do not take a dog that is used to a quiet and calm enviroment and throw it into big party/teknival/festival, that have to be learned and trained.
