Oh. I’ve just read the last couple of posts on your other thread. Now I know the upset. Thought i’d read it all.
Amazes me how they have managed to get where they are today. Dance Music Finder is another one to stear clear of. And Replay Records. In fact, most of those mail order catalogue type vinyl shops.
If you want rare tunes stick to Ebay and Gemm etc. djneeds.com or co.uk is sometimes quite handy too.

Did you buy an expensive rare tune thinking it was the original, only to receive a poor quality repress bundled with some other crap by any chance?
No, it was a rare original, but it was so scratched it was unplayable.
😡

probably started out with good intentions – after all if someone just wanted to rip off people they’d just do crime rather than go to all the trouble of setting up a business!
Then they start building up, get more sales volume than they can handle (not keeping an eye on available customer service resources) and things go pear-shaped. A sad story of decline which affects way too many small businesses these days
I’ll stop there as I’m starting to sound like a management consultant again 😀

No no, carry on
I’m copy and pasting this into the email i’m sending htfr purporting to be a management consultant…;)
Another post on here about astrology started me wondering a bit about destiny / fate and how certain events way beyond our control can change our lives
Which is maybe a bit of a too-massive potential topic for the lifespan of a web based thread 😉
But I thought I’d give some examples of things which I was able to influence and that changed my life, and some things that came right out of the blue, but still changed my life…
living in a war zone (jerusalem) when i was 18 changed my perspective on a few things… such as what drives people to kill one another… it is their basic meanness that provides people with enemies and their enemies’ basic meanness that sustains them.
A big cup of mushroom tea changed my life once… after about 18 months of serious mental health problems I drank a massive brew on my own. It was the catalyst to my paths of recovery. Could have gone either way really! safe now though 😉
Organising free parties has changed my life. I find it really hard to relax at parties if I don’t have to do anything (ie. I’m not invloved in organising). Last 2 parties I went to I had nothing to do except dance, meet people, chat with my mates, play on the space hopper, eat a sweet, whatever and it felt wrong somehow. It’s wierd and I can’t describe it. But that’s just me and I’m sure I’ll get over it, or forget about it.
The very advent of Acid House has changed my life. Without it I’d be dancing around quarries, warehouses and woods listening to Jethro Tull remixes. Or would I? Actually, that gives me an idea 😉
Meeting my girlfriend properly for the first time changed my life. We used to think that we didn’t like each other for years until we meet unhindered by silly people around us. She’s a babe. finding out I’m going to be a father by next summer definately changed my life. I thought I was still a kid!
The morals of these stories? violence breeds violence but we could all be frineds, you never know until you try / what have you got to lose?, chill out for fuck’s sake, you have to fight for your right to party, don’t believe everything you hear.
Discuss, ignore, or call me a twat.
I won’t bore people with all the bits of my life story as they have prolly already been put on SJ and other places; much of it is quite harsh and depressing – my old skool memories are bitter-sweet for a number of reasons….
that said I’ve survived after 14 years partying, not burned out or gone too overboard on the drugs and still enjoy much of the lifestyle – I wouldn’t be doing it otherwise!
Nowadays though I’m trying to move beyond parties to doing more long-term creative and enjoyable but positive things; much as I love raves the sheer amount of energy required can take its toll, and there are some other things I’d like to do with my life as well…
Congratulations on your impending fatherhood BTW globaloon 🙂
anyway this sort of story is excellent; this is what we’d like to see from loads of other people as well…
Yeah, congratulations on the news globalloon!
That was a nice read. Alas, whenever I try to think of something about my life to tell that is profound I find myself at a loss to think of anything or remember parts.
I feel so boring. 🙂
That does seem to be the trend if any sort of serious or personal thread crops up. But thankfully, as always, I find partyvibe to be a respite from all that kind of attitude found on most other forums.
That, IMO is one of the best aspects of this site; we like a joke as well but people here seem to remember there is (usually) another human at the end of the network, and treat each other accordingly. (if we find auto-registered profiles attempting to spam stuff or advertise their websites they get canned!)
This lifestyle often goes way beyond the weekend – affecting how we choose our friends and interact with our families and others in wider society; we need a strong community and a safe haven where people can discuss the more serious stuff or their personal worries. I so wish I had a resource like PV when I first started raving…
As for life changing events; the two ones I can think of (other than raving) are in 1990/1 playing about with telnet on a green screen terminal in college and discovering something called “the world wide web” on a server in CERN switzerland….
and 10 years later, a couple of squatters in Reading building me a bicycle in return for some electrical maintenance work I had done in their buildings. This gave me a new burst of energy, freedom, happiness and health not even a motor car or any other vehicle could; plus it means I can eat all the pies and not become too unfit (I reckon I’m in better shape now than I was in my teens!)

strangely enough I may well be relocating to the East Anglia area for a bit next spring/summer if I can’t get any more work in Reading (current employers downsizing) – a relative runs a business there and needs an IT person..
if it happens no doubt i will be in touch to find out what’s happening in the area 🙂
Yeah mate definately do that!
Plenty of places to bike too. It’s not as flat as people make out.

I’m usually quite quiet. Unfortunately that sometimes comes across as me being moody and it intimidates some people. Especially as i’m not a small lad.
Same here on occasion.
As well as being quite a big bloke I’m also pretty ugly. Especially if I’ve been up all night. Sometimes, the morning after a particularly heavy session my lips get stuck to my canine teeth and I look like Nosferatu with a snarl on.
My poor friends.
On the plus side, when things get that bad, at leat you know the people that are talking to you must be pretty open minded. 😉

Ha ha………you……shifty rude bwoy…..!
Maybe only when you’re wearing a visor in the dove……! (Is a good pic of you btw!)
