There are some basic lies on the web.
1] Dragon festival is the only Free festival in Europe. It is a lie, there are many other free festivals. I can name polish, slovak, bulgarian and romanian… Here in Spain are other free festivals too, to name just one for all The Ethnosur in Alcala Real.
2] Dragon festival is in abandoned quarry. No it is not abandoned, I live here all year long (not like you Lisa – Dragon webdesigner, living most of the year in UK)
3] Dragon festival is FREE, no it is not, because one person’s freedom has its borders where it is violating freedom of others. In this case 10ooo people decide to come and shit in my garden every year. This is serious violating of my freedom.
I am not against the festival. I work as VJ on many parties and festivals all over Europe. I am just saying it is in wrong place for the form it has taken in last years.

En ningun sitio me lo he pasado tan bien como en los Cigarrones.
Tanta gente y de tantos sitios diferentes del mundo, es una pasada esto solo ocurre aqui.
como dice el refran una vez al año no hace daño.
El daño ambiental en mi opinion no existe o es minimo ( mas contamina un coche y por eso no dejan de usarlo). Lo unico la basura que vamos dejando.. pero para eso el ayuntamiento tiene medios a su alcanze( yo recoji mi mierda antes de irme).
Ademas el pueblo pasa de tener poquisimos habitantes a miles de peregrinos por sus calles.
Eso es bonito y seguro que muchos de los comercios lo agradecen, por ejemplo el dueño de la pequeña gasolinera que seguro que en esos dias recauda mas que en 6 meses de trabajo.
Por esto animo a todo el mundo tanto europeos como fuera de europa que ayuden y colaboren con la organizacion para poder seguir disfrutando de esos dias maravillosos donde todo es amor y paz!! ajajaja
No vale con venir y pegarse la fiesta hay que aportar, cuidar el espacio donde vive gente todo el año y respetarlo.
Eso es lo que pienso y me da igual que los vecinos degan lo que quieran el dia 23 me estoy instalando mi campamento FIJO!
Creo que seria una pena que dejara de celebrarse una fiesta como esta, principalemente y por experincia porque el ambiente que se da en tablones durante el festival es único en nuestro pais. Fiestas como el Dragon se celbran en muchos paises de europa, reuniendo a muchos jovenes, que drogas y conflictos morales a parte, van a pasrselo bien, a conocer gente y a dejar fluir el mejor buen rollo del mundo.
La solución no es hacer desaparecer el festival si surgen problemas, creo que se debe concienciar a la gente si se pretende que todo llegue a buen puerto, y puesto que problemas y problemáticos abundan en todas partes, debemos ser la mayoria quienes intentemos que no exista ningun tipo de conflictos. Me consta que la mayor parte de la peña que va al Dragon es respetuosa y va a pasarselo bien sin hacer daño a nadie, como demuestra que el año pasado no ocurriera nada grave en una reunión de estas carcateristicas, con tanta gente, cuando en cualquier fin de semana en cualquier ciudad hay problemas de todos tipos. Con respecto a la limpieza, si es verdad que todos somos un poco cerdos…..
y esto es el principal problema creo yo…. pero es que esta en nuestras manos que todo salga bien, un poco de compromiso por parte de todos….. en nuestro beneficio…. porque podamos seguir celebrando en paz y con alegria una reunión con tantos amigos, donde todos disfrutemos y colaboremos en rendirle un debido homenaje a la primavera…..
a la NATURALEZA.

he is actually being kind enough to engage in a constructive dialogue with all the European ravers who have turned or are planing to turn up on his doorstep – he doesn’t even need to do this, he could in fact just talk to the council and coppers and ask for the event to be closed down.

also we know the place since 12 y.and we r one of the peopel doing the first party in ciggi.
in this time hardly anyone was living down there!
our partys attracted lot’s of people.
many of them decided 2 live down in ciggi because of the nice vibe.
later people got use 2 there new home and got bored of the partys and now they want 2 move the party and not there own arses .
we live now in paraguay becaus of that, and our wish is the dragon for ever so all people could see the spirit, how 2 live 2 gether hand in hand :bounce_fl

Hey Claus, I remember those days and you (I helped you find out about patent registering for your bouncy shoes.), but you are talking about totally diferent festival and diferent vibe. The festival had not more than 2000 people.
Dragon is not free anymore. I am sorry.
Ok then.., why don’t we move?, what about Tabernas Desert(Almeria), or Monegros Desert(Huesca), and make Dragon be a little bit like BurningMan(in the meaning of leaving no trace of festival after the event).
I think that Dragon Festival should happen in Las Alpujarras, because this is, for me, the spirit of the festival. It’s a very energetic place. But of course, before than the festival no exists, we can move to other place…. portugal for example…. but…. I wish dragon festival 2009 will take place in las alpujarras.

It is amazing how naive some people are viz this “it is not a disaster, it does no damage, it’s really spiritual, if we can just get people to use toilets and bins… “
Frankly bollocks! We are talking about several thousand people totally off of it on booze, dope, pillls, speed, ketamine, smack,crack, coke, usually all at once. It is pitch dark on a stony river bed. Do they really expect people in this condition to think about TOILETS? The dragon fest is the medieval priest´s vision of hell, sudden flashes of color, Stygian darkness interspersed with patches of yellow light, a million faces of every kind, from dopey young hippes to leery, minging, crusty k’d out piss head yobbos, staggering about telling every one they see to fuck off, trudging shadowy groups of people dodging 4×4 ‘s full of bombed teenagers running on brain stem being driven at insane speeds through the puddles of the traditional Dragon rain, the earth trembling roaring earthquake rumble of a million competing mega K sound systems, packs of wild dogs feeding and fighting over the the dubious gobbets of food bought from the many grubby half lit stalls to assuage the munchies and dropped after a collision with a filthy, ragged, pissed six foot biker with enough metal in his face to start his own scrap yard.
No. no one is going to be thinking about property or etiquette under these conditions. No one will be thinking of the neighbors, or who’s vegetable garden they’ve fallen into. Not when they are stumbling around in the dark trying to find a quiet spot to throw up on.
Now don’t get me wrong, I have had many fantastic nights at the Dragon, ripped to the tits on pills and dancing my socks off, some of my best nights ever in fact, but don’t lets kid ourselves that it is any way, nice, fluffy or spiritual. There is no way it is ever going to self police. The only way to solve these issues is a new site, tickets, stewards, and rules. And our average Dragon lover is not going to subscribe to that. Trouble is the white trash English folks of Tijola over the way have teamed up with their Spanish counterparts. These people get the lot and are not generally what you would call ravers. They are now organized with lawyers and now have the kind of political leverage which may well lead to confrontation and tears in the end. The Dragon really is the kind of thing that you could only get away with around here (I love Orgiva) and sadly I don’t think it can be got away with much longer. So will the Dragon roar in 2009 ? We will see but please don’t pretend that it is a good thing. If you are there, wasted & dancing it is great. For every one else it is a torture that goes on for days, and the state of the river bed after every one has gone ? It is like the aftermath of a nuclear accident in a sewage factory mixed with rubbish. Hundreds are needed to deal with the mess, equipped with those chemical warfare suits, but alas it is achieved by a brave few, many of whom never wanted the festival in the first place. It is not as if those in Los Cigarrones who hate the Dragon could leave while the fez is on. As you may imagine many of our lovely boozy British mingers will happily steal every thing that is nailed down, and these poor residents have to stay to try to exercise some kind of damage limitation, and it can be risky. One poor bastard I know was beaten for trying to stop people flatting his fence and parking in his garden!
I think that the root of the problem is the name. Dragons are vicious, selfish, cunning and destructive beasts that lay waste to things. That is what dragons do and any one who believes otherwise is a fool.
