Talking on the News about roughly halving the drink driving limit when this new report comes out tomorrow. So I guess even a pint at lunchtime could easily put you over the limit. Well this sucks, wonder how much cash they will make in fines. If no one ever goes out and we make the world as sterile as possible maybe we can all live for ever.

Remind me to get the hell out of this country as some point would you, so done with England.

England’s got one of the highest limits of tolerance compared to much of the rest of the EU and the World!

Cyclists can be done for being DUI but can refuse to be breathalysed (whether or not this is a good idea depends on the mood of the cops). However in most cases they fall off their bikes long before too much carnage occurs.

yeah we do now, but it looks like we wont soon. Perhaps I need to get off the planet instead. I dont want to live somewhere where I cant have a pint and drive later on without fear of losing my licence. Not that I get a say oh no, they never ring me and ask what I think. Bastards.

european standard is generally 0.5

however czech is 0!!

and switzerland 0.2

however, britain has one of lowest rates of road death around, and a relatively low drink driving accident rate too.

however other nations particularly those around the med seem to be a bit lenient… the greeks and cypriots never seemed to mind… half of them in greece were already pissed when they rolled up to the bar on their police bikes anyway

they are lenient but a fuckload of people actually die on the roads compared to the UK. Greece is bottom of the pile for “original” EU nations!

England is one of the most densely populated nations in the EU, our roads could be a lot better (like the dutch) but even so we do a good job of avoiding crashes.

I saw a whole line of traffic in Mid Suffolk stop to let a toad cross (which is good because they are getting rare)

this is only a suggestion by some adviser (from the previous govt), same as the ones from the ACMD that we shouldn’t have knee jerk reactions to drugs prohibition, and we know what happened to those. The new govt is worried about the effects on the drinks industry anyway.

I’m much more concerned about the increasing backlash against alcohol use by everyone, not just drivers..
