I agree, but the harsh fact is that in many cases the people who feel they can afford to say this are those of us who have proven our value in the market in some way or other and can handle the isolation, plus don’t have others such as family dependent on them..
A lot of us rebels are single or separated males who don’t have kids at home, although there are “hippy couples/families” they appear to be becoming a minority (albeit a strong one) these days…
Not everyone here lives in the UK and some people have no alternative any more, as the market forces have introduced drug testing (such as companies not being able to get insurance unless they drug test staff).
Although I do think people need to fight back a bit more by being prepared to reject drug testing. I know of too many young men who cave in because they get offered a “dream job” (usually to do with cars and/or engineering) where drug testing is required for “safety reasons”.
Of course you shouldn’t endanger your colleagues in any way, but I’ve always wondered what difference is there in impairment between a drug user who was up all night or someone who stayed up all night watching sports on TV?
