I’ll try to keep this as simple as possible. Long story short my parents thought I was doing drugs, a lot. I was in a bad place and depressed so I was made do a hair follicle drug test which was sent from Ireland to a top lab in the US for testing. These tests apparently test for all common drugs and show use of up to 90 days.

In all honesty during these 90 or so days I probably did extacy pills / MDMA powder form maybe 10-12 times. 2 pills or 1/4-1/3 a gram MD would constitute “1 time”. Additionally I smoked weed far more than that, probably 20/25 times. Each time id easily have 1/2-3/4 a gram myself.

Anyway, got the results back and they are as follows.

Amphetamines : Positive.
Screening Cut off: 500pg/mg.
screening Method : ELISA
Confirmation Method : GC/MS

Extacy(MDMA)
Confirmation cut off: 500pg/mg
Quantitive Result : 14112pg/mg.

MDA.
Confirmation cut off: 50pg/mg
Quantitive Result: 1535pg/mg.

Negative for every other drug. Including ….

THC METABOLITE(Marijuana): Negative
Screening Cut Off: 1.0 pg/mg.

How in gods name am I testing so high for extacy given the amount I did it? I was told by the doctor who did the tests,7500pg/mg is considered daily use, and I have twice the levels of what they consider an “addict”. My levels are “extreme”.

Also no weed showing up, bit strange ?

not an expert on drug test by any stretch but considering how frequent you were using MDMA and cannabis the results aren’t a total shock. let me frame it in these terms: 20/90 days of cannabis isn’t abuse once a weekish with multiple tabs of E is abuse.

weird that you passed for MJ but the MDMA results arn’t a huge suprise, once every 7 or 8 days of MDMA is probably comensurate with smoking marijuana daily multiple times a day as far as realitive level of abuse.

as far as the levels being high for E that could be that their cutoffs are arbitrary or the testing has some account of varience.

If you are wondering about the MDA and the amphetamine results, you didn’t say you took either, they were probably cut into the pills you took but no-body will ever know that. I’ve had urine tests show positive for amphetamine after using methiopropamine so they must produce the same sort of metabolites.

to be fair those results do not seem that odd for a young party drug user in Europe; the only odd thing is the test being conducted at a USA lab when the same facilities exist within Europe; and that the definitions of how much are “use” and “abuse” and “addiction” are subjective even when healthcare professionals get involved (this could be further confused by cultural differences).

If you are under 18 or a young adult still to some extent “dependent” on parental care (the age in Europe can now be up to 25 or older) to the point you voluntarily consent to taking part in a drugs test any amount of further drug use could be judged as “abuse” (especially when these substances are controlled/illegal) depending on what other agencies are involved (they work together nowadays and assess the harm to the user and to wider society).

I’d wondered about whether NPS test positive for their controlled counterparts and suspected this would be the case for due to metabolites; had considered even experimenting on myself but didn’t want to put money into the pockets of the small scale drug testing kit manufacturers. At least Darrens parents did not use these sorts of test kits.

Someone I knew also tested positive for another banned drug after taking a different NPS but I remember neither chemical.

You showed up for MDA because MDMA gets converted to MDA at a rate of about 7% in the body, so basically, if you take 500mg in a night, you have “taken” 30+ mg of MDA.. Its why things usually get trippy after a big night out

At normal recreational doses <300mg, I doubt MDA would even show up on a test
