What happened today Poly? We drove through Aylesbury at about 1.30ish and couldn’t see anything.

Loads of cops about though. :/

they are all practising for the 1st i believe, seen em on horses n shit constantly patrolling round n round.

    Should be interesting whatever happens.

    I voted yes, because:

1.) Just look at the kind of knuckle-dragging sieg heiling scum who form their ranks. Even if the EDL was built around a legitimate concern (the rise of Sharia law in Britain), collectively, they are racist.

2.) They’re called the English Defence League. Why have such a militant, nationalist name? They may as well call themselves Pakis Out.

Fortunately, most of them seem content just to get beered up and take out their frustration in publicly staged cock-swinging demonstrations at the weekend rather than actually planning anything too dangerous.

even the feds were shocked (as they had to scrape him off the road, get CSI in and explain to his parents what had gone on (this last being the worst of all the jobs, especially explaining to his mum!) In fact for a non serious offence and being a decent lad at uni he would have got off with just doing extra prayers and saying he is planning to marry the girl (he cannot be forced to do so)

this is what actually happens to unmarried Muslims in Malaysia caught in close proximity..

I don’t disagree that some are racist but I don’t think you can tar all members with the racist brush.

Also do you base your views on that one picture or were you there at the time? Personally I’d need to see em in the act before I class them all as racist. Not just assuming they are because some have skinheads and look a bit angry.

TVP used to do that in Reading quite often even before any of this kicked off!

you could get quotes from the koran and pictures of their militant protests…. for all you know those chavs are kind people anyway! when muslims have signs saying behead those that insult islam then you don’t even need to judge a book by it’s cover….. the sign says it all

Agreed mate, The EDL are tame in comparison to Islamic militant protesters.

up to 20 years with the can and being beaten with a stick (that law applies to all religions too!)

Proper harsh that is. they even hang gays in some pro Shari countries. I seem to remember a big uproar involving Iran over 2 men and a girl being publicly hanged just cos they were gay.

    Madness ain’t it.

unfortunately (I only learned the full story recently) the reason Iran was like that is there was a moderate Muslim leader and the people themselves thought he was shit and corrupt and giving away all the oil to the West, so they kicked him out in a bloody revolution. I remember this kicking off when I was a really little boy but didn’t realise the people themselves were behind the stronger government.. Even so, about 600 000 people died, in this war, thats 4 times the population of Ipswich or Reading!

In Malaysia they only hang people for drug trafficking (as well as rape and murder) but of course this penalty applies to all criminals.

What is most worrying is that authoritarian nations like Malaysia and Singapore have British styled systems of government (being former colonies!) , so anything what happens there could conceivably happen in the UK if the public and political will is there. Singapore is equally authoritarian but they aren’t a Muslim country!

The EDL aren’t a threat at all. Even the minority of mad Muslims aren’t that much of a threat. All the ones what could have made bombs are either blown up already or nicked and what is left are the dregs, as much knuckledraggers as the skinheads. The real threat are older, richer people who are really angry with what Britain has become and want to take it back to the 1950s for all, irrespective of what colour or religion you may be.

Nor can you tar all UAF as “wankers” or “hypocrites”.

UAF is an umbrella term which incorporates many different organisations. The Green Party, trade unions (NUT are a major one), Muslim Council of Great Britain, the Lab/Lib/Con parties, the Co-operative movement, and the Socialist Workers Party. The SWP would be the element you are talking about, even then not all SWP are of this ilk. I’m no fan of the SWP or their dominance within UAF, but be careful not to appear like you are defending the EDL with the same arguments that in a balanced perspective should be used to defend the UAF. What I would say is that I abhore violent protests on either side, but it’s a minority tbh.

The EDL have a large percentage of racist fuckwits, and yes I can vouch for it first hand. Marching through the streets of a multicultural city shouting “Musim bombers off our streets” and pro-Nationalist songs is intended to be provocative and they have a contigent of BNP members within their ranks. They are numbskulls, and to join them you’d be associating with a large proportion of thick racists.

On a further note, Sharia law will not be implemented in this country. That is a fear-mongering crock of shit.

Tbh mate I couldn’t give a toss about either side. Both groups are full of shit.
