there followers are people who don’t/aren’t willing to understand other cultures.
i find i ironic cause theres no such thing as british, were all mongrels, bit scandinavian, french, german, welsh, irish scottish ect. the people are degenerates and should be educated

I’m not a fan of the British label but I take (great) offence when people say there is no such thing as being English.

If you’re born in England then you are English, no more no less. I am an Englishman through and through. I would fight and even die to defend my heritage and national identity.

But that said I love all other cultures, I get on with everyone. My most favourite aspect of having a multinational country is the food. So many different ways to prepare food, my god, I love it!!!

I was born here but I’m a bit jewish, a bit scottish and a bit ‘mediterranean’ it would seem

Not sure what I identify myself as but I pride myself on speaking the queens English and I love England too much to leave, even if it can be an overcrowded expensive pain in the backside sometimes.
Not so into the heriatage of England (as we’ve done some questionable stuff in the past and I dont like to associate to closely with the government here, and I view the monarchy to be a giant state run tourist attraction), and I would certainly never die for ‘my country’, but I love the physical landscape, and the culture especially, England is amazing for art and music. Also London is my favourite place on the planet.

You can’t look at England’s past like that. It is exactly that, the past. We never did those things. Our ancestors did. That’s like holding a grudge against someone and then holding it against their kids. Ain’t the kids fault what the parent did!

Every single country in the world has a murky past, there is not one country on Earth that hasn’t done something questionable. When I look at England’s past I don’t look at politics or anything like that, I look at all the positive stuff we have given the world, Like America!!! :shy:

Also I wouldn’t die for the country or the government per se but if I had to while defending my friends and family from a foreign aggressor then I would no questions. Although I would try and destroy the aggressor first, pointless just dying for the sake of it eh. :crazy_diz

Well indeed thats why I’m proud of what is here in england now, the countryside, the people, the art, not some abstract idea of ‘england the nation’ and it’s heritage.
If it didn’t have any of the things in it that I liked I’d piss off elsewhere in the world and not look back 😛

Yeah I’d defend my own from an invading force also, if I couldn’t run away that is ;P

I tell ya though, as much as I love this country I actually want to piss off to France for 6 months and live with my uncle. Such a chilled out existence over there. gotta learn French (which I am actually doing now) first though, Was a right mission trying to buy stuff and get about!

I am proud to be both English and Asian – although my ancestry is very important to me, my views and culture are wholly different being born in England than had I been born in Kuala Lumpur or Manila or Singapore..

I think there actually is a sense of balance and fair play in England which is lacking in some other nations, even former UK colonies.

As much as we curse the government and “nanny state” they are still quite tolerant and TBH there are loopholes provided you don’t take the piss whilst stopping short of public sector being wholly inefficient or even corrupt whilst still taking fuckloads of taxes.

Or there’s the other extreme where they are ruthlessly efficient with constant surveillance and there is no option other than to obey or fuck off (like how things are run Singapore)

Also consider that down here political extremists are still a rare threat – yes, shit happens, but in some countries (even European ones) a bomb goes off every day or someone is shot dead for their political views.

And when we do have protests and strikes although there is ketling and some cops and protestors get out of hand, there aren’t usually major injuries a couple of years ago at fuel protests in Spain and Portugal, lorry drivers just drove straight into the blockade, crushing the picketers under their wheels. Of course the drivers were immediately arrested by heavily armed cops and must have gone to prison for a very long time, but other than one incident at the 1980s miners strike I’m not aware of anyone recently being killed as part of an industrial dispute in England..

also by and large both EDL and Muslim extremists are seen as muppets by the bulk of their larger communities, whilst in Europe these extremists often have real political and economic power, and by semi-covert funding of gangs (often surprisingly small but ruthless ones), their battles result in blood regularly spilled on the streets (even in unexpected places like Belgium where people don’t think this stuff happens)

there are reasons why despite having a reasonable knowledge of about 4 European languages and the option to go to Malaysia and be set up with a job any time I want I choose to work and live in England..

Ian Tomlinson at the G20 march?

was thinking more of strikes/pickets rather than protest marches/larger public disturbances (as there have been many more injuries/deaths there, such as Blair Peach) and then all the riots of the 1980s, with reprisal attacks between both cops and rioters (they were arresting folk for the PC Blakelock murder up in Suffolk just a few years ago).

There is always more risk to folk at protest marches anyway as they are viewed as more contentious and have a less widely defined group of people (they can also be much more easily infiltrated by provocateurs or folk who just enjoy trouble) – most strikers, for obvious reasons, aren’t totally set on “destroying” the system and particularly not their employers, just fighting for better pay and conditions so there normally isn’t much opposition other than from groups within the company involved or the cops if they are called to restore order.

Even then its a rare occasion compared to outside the UK. In this country even criminals get treated reasonably well by the Police and justice system nowadays in comparison with 20 years ago and way better than in other lands.

My mum told me about how when she grew up in Malaysia in the 1960s some young lad with learning difficulties gave some cheek to the FRU (Federal Reserve Unit, their riot cops). The basically set upon him and beat him to death with their own bare hands and truncheons. When the mum complained she was told that her son was a “cretin” and “didn’t deserve to live if he can’t respect the Police”. No action was taken against the officers involved. (it was of course things like this what made my family decide to migrate to the UK).

    oh gaaawd, what a prick.
i bet he goes for a curry every friday night.

think how boring england would be if we were all white and british. we need other cultures to become diverse and interesting, and for new generations to be born from the best genes of both.

Although EDL is full of racist muppets its not 100% white! There are sikhs and hindus in the EDL, who use the clashes as opportunity to cave in the windows of Muslim owned businesses who are of course commercial rivals.

Of course British Asians have been doing this for the last 20-30 odd years especially in places like Southall and Slough but now they can claim its “political activism” rather than just crime between rival businesses.

Also EDL isn’t as anti-drugs as the BNP or other hard-right organisations (several of their members have been busted at marches with wraps of white powder).

Its true that lads in the the video are incoherent idiots, not everyone in the extreme right is stupid. Also todays right wing doesn’t always want all people of “foreign” origin to be kicked out, they just want them to “know their place” and be subservient.

I’ve met people who are “multicultural” when a ethnic person is serving them food for minimum wage, but less so when you are in a management position in a professional job potentially with power over them..

Proud is the wrong word I feel about England. I love it, I love the countryside. But that’s about it. Would I fight for the people of Britain? Would I fuck, most of them are complete arseholes who don’t deserve what they have. I’d fight to stay here becuase I love the actual land, but as for everything we’ve built and done with it, I couldn’t give a shit.

So you wouldn’t fight to defend your friends and family then?

England, and the people in it, is no worse than the folk in most other EU countries or the world, and I spend a lot of time learning about other cultures and languages.

I accept a lot of bad shit happened in the past but I’ve only been on this earth since 1972.

Since that time I’ve seen a lot of good things come from modern, multicutural England / Britain particularly in technology and engineering – especially IT and telecommunications.

A lot is taken for granted as folk are a bit dumbed down, and some isn’t well known because we invented a load of clever stuff during the war, shared it with the Yanks and Europeans and they developed it further whilst the British kept it under wraps but without it we wouldn’t have our fixed and mobile phones, nor the Internet and this forum..

(I mention Britain though as we mustn’t leave out the Welsh and Scots who also deserve credit for this stuff..)

OK I should rephrase, yes I would, and there are other people who I’m sure are great, but you can’t say that I’d fight for them because they’re English.
