To be fair the issue with violence was a wider problem with parties in SE England which predated 1unity even starting up under that name, and in (very) recent times has spread to EA as recent posts have shown…
AFAIK they aren’t just one crew but several put together. The bigger problem is I think the core lot involved are fairly young and have difficulty keeping a big crowd safe – its not even about having big angry dudes everywhere (they can cause more hassle!) but putting out a consensus that violence between partygoers is unacceptable and having zero tolerance to any racism, misogyny, bullying of any kind, rather than turning parties into a extension of a high school campus..
Perhaps for those of us what are in our 30s or older and grew up during the 80s/90s and early 00s when first the original hippy/alternative types fought for our free expression, and economic times were briefly good due to cheap energy we take this peaceful interaction for granted
as I’ve noticed a lot of younger folk (even ravers) are much angrier (amongst each other) than when I was that age…
we even set up a forum specially for one of the crews what became 1unity but they lunched it out as after a promising start they didn’t want to discuss heavy subjects/”bad news” even when it would have made the parties safer :you_crazy

Re: Eggtek 2011 *Official Thread*
there was NO RAPE I was there the entire time and would have definately heard about it, cant believe people are so thick but explains alot as to why they are quick to believe this
Anyway was a proper fat party big up to the techno rig for the set nice 1, ready to do it all over again next wknd
People I know who went also knew nothing about it. But that doesn’t mean a lot. But then neither does internet rumor. As I said, hope its not true. Emotions cloud reason
don’t see why someone would make this up, don’t think it is a rumor.. but lets hope it is.
TBH it’s not something you’d want to advertise really, so if it did happen I’m not suprised the MC didn’t get on the mic and tell everyone there …
False rape accusations are hardly uncommon, especially if drugs/alachol are involved. But then neither is the real thing. It’s a complex and messy world
Had a top weekend. Everyone i met that weekend was safe. Was a bit pissed of that my driver wouldn’t take our rig but we will be there next year. Ended up taking a pc,amp and projector and setting up for the whole weekend tripping my tits off for the 1st time in ages 🙂 Left monday afternoon after helping the last rig tidy up.

Saw you posted a similar post on SJ and the typical cunt response came after…
stayed to the end with just about 30 of us left having a booty…..heard no word of trouble like that, there was one fight and a few small things as usual unfortunately but heard nothing savage. no rigs were seized from what I heard. land owners were very understanding and helpful once they realised what was happening and kept the police away so long as a clean up operatioon was put in force.
Big up to the crew who was still cleaning up on monday afternoon, they were doing an excelent job!

Thing is you normaly find faulse allegations of rape being made against a person/s – she doesn’t even know these people! It’s not so much false accusation tho as I don’t think anyone is questioning wether she made up the story or not … but wether she even exsists or not. Personaly
I don’t see why anyone would make up a story like that unless they had beef with the soundsystems envolved/the party sceen in general … but I don’t think either of these apply in this situation as the person who posted it on facebook was part of a sound system there.
The fact that not every one knew about it stright away makes me think it’s more real as if a friend of mine got raped there I’m pretty sure they would want to leave stright away rather then inform every one else at the party what happened .. alltho a quite word to someone who’s got something to do with the organisation would probably happen so they know too look out for troublemakes and hopefully stop it happening again.
Whilst I’m glad damo666 didn’t notice any bad stuff as he is a friend from this area, I am inclined to believe some sort of unpleasant incident did happen – anything from low level sexual assault to rape and that as daft hinted people have tried “facebook justice” as they have no other option – they don’t want to go directly to the real authorities partly out of image but also out of fear of being nicked for involvement in a illegal rave.
There is unfortunately no bright side here. the cops do read facebook, take note of all incidents discussed there and also on this forum and although they can’t arrest anyone clearly do use them to bolster the case against letting illegal raves continue. Even the “best case” will involve identifying and arresting the rave organisers and quizzing them to see if they know anything. The worst case would be vigilantés targeting a innocent person at the next rave and further violence occuring as reprisals.
This weekends press release from a South Midlands constabulary specifically cited the risk of violence between participants along all the other bad things what could happen at raves. This is the first time I have seen this in a anti-rave press release – and I have been monitoring them for a few years now.
10 years ago if the cops claimed that raves were violent they’d have got laughed at on every forum and made to look like pure muppets. Nowadays the discussion on our forums and facebook make the case for them that there is a risk of violence at unlicensed events. We should not bury bad news however but face up to it and hold events where violence is never tolerated, even if it means smaller parties going on for less hours..
