come on then
who voted?
i got to the polling station 10 minutes before it closed and 15% had turned uout :surprised
The four candidates here ranged from uninspiring, at best, to moronic, at worst.
Every candidate pledged to introduce a 20 MPH speed limit to a road where no car ever reaches more than 3 MPH and pollution is some of the worst in the country.
How about a tram-way?
Oh, go back to sleep, ‘your’ government is in control.
we had a green candidate, who I voted for, being a lifelong supporter of the green movement an a believer in the need for sustainable living
i met him while he was out leafletting… he couldn’t even hold a proper conversation with me.. a lifelong supporter of the movement / party…:rant:
how can he pursuade others? where’s the radical thinking? the community engagement?
watch this space
I’m afraid not.
All the candidates I have here are 60+, po faced and wouldn’t have the slightest clue what is important to the younger generation so I don’t bother as I can’t see the benefit of having ANY of them in any sort of power.
We don’t have a green candidate either.
because of timing differences didn’t get a polling card for my new area (although got a council tax bill :rant:)
TBH I reckon though the only people who bother(ed) to vote are the whingers and moaners hence large tory gains in local councils (middle englanders who don’t agree with how things are being done)
Bio-tech – have you seen the results across the border though? 4 for the greens in Norwich?!
Yeah, not bad eh! Norwich has quite a high proportion of young inhabitants and students though so I’m not too suprised.
not sure though if these councillors (of any party) have any actual power – TBH I reckon though if they do anything too radical Whitehall will simply wrestle the power away from them and take control by some other means (such as removing or delaying funding)….
would be interesting to see what their take is on the late night economy and licensing issues though..
no local elections around here. I wouldnt vote for any party members anyway and I have never seen anyone I would vote for.
if there was anyone the system would let them down anyway.
:rant::rant:if you didnt vote then
DONT GRUMBLE ABOUT WHO GOT IN:rant::rant::rant:
this is a defeatist attitude which maintains the status quo;
if the candidates are so poor get up and stand yourself – you cant be any worse than those already standing and you might get the (a)pathetic masses involved again
:rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant:
Don’t vote for them, it only encourages them!
welcome to partyvibe

[ok but dont complain if you dont vote and you dont like who got in:groucho:]
Hi there:groucho:
Welcome to Partyviberaaa
Enjoyyyy:groucho:
i think i will stand next year in the local elections as ‘Independant’
an old friend stood for years as Green and never got elected, but as soon as he called himself Independant he won and has been elected every year for 12 years
he’s made some positive changes in his village, like getting a full-on recycling (including furniture, white goods etc) project running, getting a large farmers shop (selling local produce) built and stopping a massive supermarket being built
I have a mate who was quite big in the Labour party, but is now as sick of them as everyone else – he’s offered to help me with canvassing etc
might have to delete all of my posts here in case my rise to power is blighted by my lifestyle raaa
