wee bit bait.. “oooh i just love outdoor parties! went to one last weekend, could u please tell me all ur names, addresses and drugs that u sell/take? thanks”
This thread was started in September 2003…
things were a lot more carefree back then (although we still had to be careful) – people actually got away with posting a lot of bait stuff.
Our party announcements in those days would often have a partyline in them and sometimes even a rough idea of the area the rave would be happening and the cops wouldn’t bust the party!
lol well said matey! they were saying on anglia news the other day that utube n other website (blatently sj and pv) give the ob alot of evidence….i know its been said on here sooooooo many time but keep it on the roary peeps!
agreed (although I was even saying this in 2003 and getting a lot of stick for being “too pessimistic”)
We think its fun – they think its “photographic evidence of a crime in progress”.
Websites need not be a security risk. If I (or any of the other mods) see things on here that are bait they get removed very quickly indeed.
SJ has done the same on occasions. Their photo gallery was removed in 2005 as it was used to bring a few people from SE England crews to Court, along with printouts of threads from the forums (arguments are particularly bad for bait info as everyone defends their mates and you find out who does what).
We’ve kept the partyvibe gallery but quite deliberately discourage any photos of more recent illegal parties being put up there (its now used for legal event photos and other more random stuff like peoples pets, nature photos and rigs for sale).
The problem is that people complain and say “oh, too many rules/no freedom of speech” because rave sites have clamped down – they then upload the photos and/or videos to other websites such as youtube with loads of info about them which makes it easier for the cops.
Youtube, myspace, flickr, photobucket and all similar places are not run by ravers. They will not protect you and warn you if stuff is incriminating.
If the cops ask for info, they will just hand everything over when they get the correct paperwork in order to protect their businesses.
People have had houses searched and computers/cameras confiscated because of what they have uploaded to the public internet.
i saw a video on u tube of a riot last year….its been modified (sound effect and that) ..the ob pick up the generator and try and escape with it…people started kicking off(as you do if ur equipment is being taken) then loads of ob start lashing out at ravers…pushing them over and sprayin cs gas in their face didnt look nice at all! my theory is if ob can use videos and photos againts us then surely we can use a video like that against them?
Sadly, I think only those who support the activism (be it raves/protests or whatever) are moved by the scenes of brutality.
A lot of the public either don’t care or feel that the cops need to do this to clear the area. That video you mention actually resulted in more people being nicked than the opposite.
I used to watch a lot of crime documentaries (not so much now, I have given up TV to a large extent) and I’ve noticed the footage that is authorised and cleared by the cops often shows them going in quite heavy, and no attempt is made to hide this.
I suspect many people are actually becoming desensetised to violence because so much of it can be seen today either on normal media or youtube/myspace (what about all the videos of youths fighting and bullying each other one there?) – they merely see it as entertainment and thus the “shock value” of such videos has lost its effect.
which is quite disturbing really !! people actually enjoy watching videos of brutality ……raaa
unfortunately so – you can now buy DVD’s of gang fights and football hooligans set to music (its a bit like the “Clockwork Orange” scenario!). Some of the footage was even “borrowed” from Police CCTV archives…
I think we can use our videos and photos from the rave scene positively, but we need to make discs and share them amongst our close friends rather than the whole internet..
Guessing you have never seen the “Bum fights” DVD’s then :you_crazy
init. to be fair no one in their right mind who doesn’t party or is jus the general public isn’t eva going to understand wat we do and why we do it. no amount of meadia coverage will ever do any gd to the scene and ppl lookin on at the violence at that particular party are likely to jus say “if they werent there in first place which they shouldnt hav been, it wouldnt have happened.”. twats, but nothins gunna eva change. so bein covert is the key, lurke in the shadows, watch ur back at all times and watever u do.. dont ever accept pink pills from a man with a goat skin sweater called roy. EVER.
haha i remember that next time im walking down some gloomy street in narrrfolk :laugh_at:
if the man tells you his goat skin sweater is called Pete, does that mean the pills are OK?
yes. yes it is.
Free parties kick ass, the best feeling? the sunrise at about 6am, wen evry1 is still partyin! Keep free parties going, the police cant stop us if we dont stop!!!
