my cats have always been robustly discouraged from approaching computers and cables of any sort (one has a habit of clawing at wall mounted drop wires as if they are snakes and has managed to knock out my dial up as a kitten and the broadband as an adult cat).
I have seen people actually have files trashed (and other random ones created) by kittens/cats jumping on keyboards.
can’t do the LCD screen any good – and if you let the cat get away with such things he/she will find other stuff to use its paws and claws on..
might be “cute” when they are kittens but it gets a bit much if they start shredding everything or going for the postie – in a few years if the chap isn’t careful he is gonna be paying loads to his vet for behaviour therapy fees – in the USA your cat can be declared a “nuisance cat” and get the equivalent of a feline ASBO if it starts trashing the neighbours property!
/me also suspects this could be a “stealth marketing” ploy by Apple; showing how robust / kitten-proof the laptop is…
