To be fair, who didn’t see this coming from a cash cow like farcebook.

Facebook bans Gandhi quote as part of revisionist history purge
(NaturalNews) The reports are absolutely true. Facebook suspended the Natural News account earlier today after we posted an historical quote from Mohandas Gandhi. The quote reads:
“Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest.” – Mohandas Gandhi, an Autobiography, page 446.
This historical quote was apparently too much for Facebook’s censors to bear. They suspended our account and gave us a “final warning” that one more violation of their so-called “community guidelines” would result in our account being permanently deactivated.
They then demanded we send them a color copy of a “government issued identification” in order to reactivate our account. Our account was removed from suspension just minutes before InfoWars posted its article on this Facebook censorship, and the Facebook page is now functioning at:
http://www.Facebook.com/NaturalNews
This is a separate account from our primary Facebook account, which has nearly 250,000 followers at:
http://www.Facebook.com/HealthRanger
Logic is an enemy and history is a menace
That Facebook would choose to disable our account after we posted a Gandhi quote is incredibly shocking. The historical rise of oppressed Indian people against tyrannical British rule is apparently no longer allowed to be discussed on Facebook. The very IDEA of a free people overcoming tyrannical government rule now “violates community guidelines.” The removal of this content is akin to online book burning and the destruction of history.

Censorship: Facebook deletes pages of 9/11 activists
By Victoria N. Alexander,digitaljournal.com –
In the past twenty-four hours, Facebook has removed the pages of about fifty political activists. Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth founder, Richard Gage lost his page, as did several other activists.Several people associated with the alternative news website InfoWars.com have also had their pages removed today. InfoWars reports,
In September 2011, Infowars reporter Darrin McBreen was told by Facebook staff not to voice his political opinion on the social networking website. Responding to comments McBreen had made about off-grid preppers being treated as criminals, the “Facebook Team” wrote, “Be careful making about making (sic) political statements on facebook,” adding, “Facebook is about building relationships not a platform for your political viewpoint. Don’t antagonize your base. Be careful and congnizat (sic) of what you are preaching.”The Facebook purge includes those who have posted pro-Second Amendment statements and/or made comments about the report made by the Washington Post /CBS News that another gunman had been arrested in the woods near Sandy Hook Elementary after the shooting.
The office of Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth reports that Mr. Gage has never made any statements about gun ownership on his page. The AE911 office also confirms that a number of 9/11 activists have been targeted by Facebook. Facebook is purging accounts that carry pro-second amendment and pro-liberty information in a censorship purge that has accelerated over the past few hours, with innumerable pages being disappeared merely for posting legitimate political content.
NaturalNews.com’s Mike Adams contacted us to alert us to the fact that “Facebook banned our account for posting this,” with an attached image of a Gandhi quote about how the British disarmed the citizenry during their rule in India.

FB has locked off loads of UK leftwing/anarchist sites and/or passed info on them to feds (was around royal wedding time or some other similar potential flashpoint), though in that case why they were on FB in the first place I always found bizzare.
there is a old saying (which might be American) – “freedom of the press is available to those who own one”.
Are people really surprised by this ???
Give a corporation all your most personal likes, dislikes, habits, political views and trust they wont sell it, misuse it, or edit out the bits they dont like lolz
There is no guarantee of free speech on private property (which is what facebook and its servers are classed as) unless its registered as a public telecommunications resources and even then its only usual UN human rights stuff (which has many loopholes in it allowing the feds to monitor traffic, though overt censorship without a proper legal framework behind it is highly discouraged).
TBH I think any campaign group which relies only on farcebook or any other resource they have not set up themselves is lazy anyway and can’t whinge if those who own the resource decide they disagree with what they are using it for.
i was impulsed (is that a word?) to do that too. but i don’t have this second amendment shit to deal personally with so i didn’t 🙂 if it got spammed then it got spammed – i was post-cancelled for parodying a spam way back in usenet days (no bans there but cancelling was rare and strictly controlled) cos it triggered the same filters as the original.
when it comes down to it fb is a private corp with all that that implies and imho anyone actually organising anything activist that’s more complex than a (musical) party is nuts to rely on fb for it. and even then fb is so unreliable – i just saw a load of followups on fb that didn’t show up when first posted forinstance.
While I don’t like Natural News that is a bit weird. But yeah freedom of speech doesn’t apply to private property so Faecesbook can do whatever they like.
Oh right. People “sign up” to a website, totally ignore the agreement they made, piss and moan about how everyone is out to “get them”…
… fucking idiots should have realised what they were signing up for. I’m not disagreeing that Facebook limits Free Speech and is simply a tool to get people to spill their guts before corporate America.
The good news – tools can be used for many different purposes, and soap boxing purely off Facebook isn’t, by itself, going to change the world.
If the Indians are still so pissed off about the Raj, I suggest they send back all the rail lines, telephone lines, port facilities, buildings, legal institutions that were also the result of oppression. Might be more useful to the UK and if everthing about the Raj was clearly not in “India’s” Best Interests, then India can send them back if they are REALLY still that fucking upset.
Judging by the numbers of brown faces I see around the UK that came from the Indian subcontinent, I would say that not all brown people are so backward looking. I wish I could say the same about some of the white people I meet around the UK who would be only too willing to lock up and ship out anyone who wasn’t white.
indeed but i think this is more to do with american gun nuts grasping at quotations to support them, rather than any form of post-colonial satyagraha.
its the cowboys rather than the Indians causing a fuss :laugh_at:
This is one of the best things about partyvibe, posts are ever so rarely censored, only spam and posts that are likely to cause problems. I sometimes use the battlefield 3 battlelog forum, and believe it is run soviet russia style. Any posts that question the authority of the mods/EA/DICE are locked. Sometimes even locked because the mods don’t like the topic or if there is a post similar to that one. They love to censor peoples posts too. Now I understand that they can’t have topics slating the pulisher of the game but criticism shouldn’t be locked. 2 days ago Anonymous hacked into battlelog and changed the poll question on the homepage from which of these maps do you like to “can you suck dick” and the answers were all yes. It was a russian crew who hacked it, you could tell from the poor english. They aslo Reset lots of well known youtubers stats/ranks and gave random people DICE/EA employee status’s and made people moderators. Oh and of course did the old favourite and made a new hidden topic in the forum directory. The admin know about it but haven’t removed it yet for some reason, instead they are banning people who post there.
It might not let you look unless you are a Battlefield player but here is the link to the hidden section anyway.– Forums – Battlelog / Battlefield 3 it’s quite amusing.
I need to make a website with a really long agreement, would throw some well classic things in.
