but I cant be bothered to talk about it.
What group was it, Was it a recent politically related group?

it was an anti lib dem conservative alliance thing yeah. Channel 4 news were going on about it and facebook refuse to even say why they removed it to anyone. Perhaps the police decided it could leave to protesting (as it was partly to organise protests etc) and they pulled the plug. Cant imagine facbook would bother otherwise and I am not a big fan of conspiracy theory’s (but then again perhaps if Labour bribed facebook haha)
its not a conspiracy theory, facebook are giving away resources for free and don’t actually need to give a reason for taking away content – the users aren’t customers, advertisers are! If it stopped making money tomorrow it would get switched off and the resources diverted to something else.
Every decision made on a site like that is ultimately a commercial one.
Although cops can’t directly censor facebook in the UK, if the word gets about to normal folk that “facebook is a site linked to criminal activity” then cops and other authorities will encourage parents to block it from their children and businesses to block it in the workplace and then they lose users and thus eyeballs to see their adverts.
Already gumtree is blocked on a lot of workplace filters because their mods/admins didn’t stop the site getting linked to violent robberies and the sex industry.
the most likely cause is not the OB but that the group pissed off a lucrative advertising client who threatened to withdraw their business.

They dont need to give a reason no, but there will be one never the less. We need someone on the inside…

42,000 members is minor.
relative to what?
does that seem grumpy? I think I always seem grumpy and rude.
relative to the sheer amount of facebook users. those 42 000 members don’t make FB any money so the management can easily afford to lose them.
just consider how shit the customer service is on many legitimate businesses for paying customers, why would FB be any better?

but no group has many people relative to the number of people on facebook, its a lot though relative to groups of a similar nature and creation date.
I dont blame facebook at all they can do what they like, I just wounded why. Its all good, I just found it interesting, didn’t mean to suggest it was some big thing or anything like that.
To be honest groups with 30 million people are minor… It’s Facebook for fuck sakes, the majority of people can’t spell the most simple words or just play Farmville on it and click join join join, like like like on every stupid thing that comes up.
If the people in the group really care that much then they’ll just make it again.

I think the facebook demographic is quite wide and I play stupid games to pass the time and cant spell for shit. Not sure that makes me any of a lessor person or anything or that my viewpoint if I joined with others who couldn’t spell would be invalidated.
*shrugs* kinda get the feeling I am pissing people off 2nite, really dont mean too. I shall leave the net alone for 2nite I think, perhaps I am in a bad mood or somethin.

I HEART ‘1984’
facebook is fucking wank. this is not an attack against you at all 1984 just my opinion and what i tell eberyone that will listen. also not into conspiracies much myself but been told that facebook was set up by the CIA as a worlwide intelligence gathering operation. makes sense if you think about it, who needs ID cards when you’ve got facebook, pretty much the same thing really apart from you dont carry it around with you, unless you have a mobile with net access then it is pretty much the same.
:tinfoilhat:
facebook is a pile of wank. I can’t seem able to delete it though. I have thought about it and while there are a number of cons, the pros vastly outweigh em.
At the end of the day it is far too useful in picking up prostitutes so therefore it has to stay.
