My Aunts daughter (i guess you could call her my cousin) has got MEGE into this –
shame she doesnt pay attention the the family that is actually living around her…..

it sounds like a huge time consuming mission, lots of trawling round records old births, deaths and marriages certificates, internet trawling
interestingly enough my great grandad on my mums side was a romany traveller/ gypsie who she thinks either ‘settled’ or married a ‘gorgios’ (house dweller) which is quite unusual in those days apparently,
and she found loads a ‘relatives’ who shes visited in and around the uk, for me – as just my nan was one of 10 .. that would be a difficult enough mission………
I remember, as my mpst of mums family were market traders, my sis fancied some guy on the market to be told by me mum he’s her cousin, so not to get too enamoured :laugh_at::laugh_at:
and one got his eyes gouged out and shot in the 60’s / 70’s – but from what I’ve heard, I think he had it coming to him :hopeless::you_crazy
and it got my dad interested on his side and so he started doing it too, and I cant remember any specifics at the mo, but it is really interesting, esp scandells (multiple families and affairs / what would now be called ‘scandal’ etc)
its weird as only tonight I found aload of stuff that was sent to me about them, I’ll have to re read it in the morning
but there are loads of geneology sites, but I think most you have to pay for
