I don’t claim to know alot about this issue but thank god they’ve finally come out with it. I’ve hated all this talk in the media about a possible recession, it’s been going on and on and now that we are in one we can now work towards getting ourselves out of it.
Any idea? :weee:
what pissed me off more is how this country denies, ignores and runs away from bad news other than a few sensationalist reports..
Some of the problems linked to todays economic “troubles” (particularly the wider global issues ) were starting in 2005; however they were ignored by the mainstream media and the public, although capitalism is so entrenched that it is admittedly difficult to do anything to stop the consumer society without hurting those dependent on it..
but at least now there is some honesty and people will have to face up to reality..
Anyway I’ve lived through three recessions already that I can remember.. so have my family (was a bit young for the early 70s recession…) and I think I am in a better position than my parents were in the 80s and 90s (especially being a single male with no kids and on a interest tracking mortgage) so its not all bad – I’m glad though I made the decision to move here and work hard in 2006 rather than follow the “euro teknival” crowd..
our economies fucked when u see primark has a 50% off sale!
Are they??? Fucking hell that is bad. :laugh_at:
hmm – I’m sure i’ve seen Primark do sales before when I lived in Reading… around 2004-06 no one thought anything of it because times were “good”
in fact they have been doing way better this year as people aren’t buying stuff from more expensive places.
They will be clearing out the winter stock for the new season, and their buying team is in Reading (having bought the old Co-Op department store) so I suspect the new lines end up in there first… (lots of stores test out new ideas in Reading anyway)
