being a British Asian, I don’t use the term “Londonistan” lightly but thats how I actually see the capital these days, loads of youths thinking they are warlords and “running the streets” whilst they are driving themselves further into theri self-made ghettoes
all this fuckery about people “representing their endz” and the chav/rudeboy culture IMO is a perverted version of what the original rave scene stood for, when older people say “it was better back in the day” they aren’t talking about the rigs or music (both of these have evolved much more due to technology advancing) but a real sense of unity and cameraderie. Todays wannabe gangsters don’t even seem to be enjoying themsleves FFS..
back in the 90s I could actually walk the streets of Elephant or Plumstead without some fucker trying to rob me (or at least not succeeding, and I am not a big scary guy at all!), I could even cross the river and into Stratford but you didn’t get stabbed or shot for wandering into someone elses “territory” (you had to be a bit careful but not like now)
its a shame as I know the good people are still in London but its a matter of connecting with them, maybe places like this are a way of bringing these people together.. (actually synergy centre looks liek a positive place but its full on hippy type stuff, I wish they would do stuff other than psy trance lol.. not that I am against psy but would like to hear harder stuff).
