If you guys remember I found a laptop in the bin area in my old flat. I am assuming it was thrown away because of a fault with the screen which I managed to fix using log power. It has a passwork on windows and I obviously won’t be able to get past it so I was thinking I could format the hard drvie from BIOS like I have done back in the windows 3.1 dayz. Problem being, I had a look at the bios menus and the boot menus but I cannot seem to find a re-format option. BIOS seems to have changed a we bit since I have played with them. I can still edit the values of stuff and completely mess up the booting process but I don’t really wanna do that since this laptop is quite good comapred to my poor little intel celeron 2007 vista special. And If I can get this one working with a versionof windows I can finally play ARMA2 dayz mod.

Also I am thinking of maybe talking to the local police about it and advise them that I found it in the refuse area, hopefully they will do some detective work and find out it’s history. Hopefully after the 28 days they will give it back to me if no one claims it. I am a little worried because it used to belong to a heroin dealer who died last year so his family obviously checked to see if it worked and chucked it. But none the less I know that this dude used to buy stollen gear from people so I am not taking any chances.

GParted — Live CD/USB/PXE/HD

Download this, burn it to a CD and boot from it. You should be able to format the hard drive using gparted. 🙂

Oooh jee thanks mister, I only have a 2gb flash drive, I guess that with be suitable size

Yep. It’s pretty small. I always keep some sort of live cd handy, theyre a life saver when you can’t boot your pc.

If you do get DayZ hit me up man.. such a sick game. If you haven’t already bought the ARMA2 combined operations pack yet you may be better off waiting for the standalone that will be released in a month or 2. It’ll be using the minecraft model so the earlier you purchase it the cheaper it’ll be. Plus that’ll give you some time to buy the new pc you want, should you not be able to get yer hands on this laptop 🙂

I have already got arma2 opreation arrowhead on my steam account, but I can’t play it. Dayz is free to download. I bought arma 2 when I was at my mums long before day z. I love my mil-sim games. Opreation flashpoint is pretty good too but on a much smaller scale than arma2.

In the process of downloading theat GParted kit so i’ll keep ya updated

Ahh right man i see. You got the original Arma 2 as well as you need both? Yeah ARMA2 is beastly when you can run it well, i need to upgrade so i can play arma 3 on max.. now that will be heavenly. OF was the predecessor to ARMA wasn’t it?

No rush ARMA 3 has been proper delayed as two of the developers were arrested in greece and charge with espionage. They were taking photos or military installations and were busted with all the pics and intel. ARMA 3 is set on a greek island BTW.

They have been there since the summer. I was gonna make a thread about it on PV a while ago. It’s a really sad story man. So ARMA 3 is delayed until further notice.

I know it is man, Limnos or something right? Based on a real life greek island, buildings and all? Oh fuck. Gonna have to google this, cheers for the heads up though

Yeah man, proper savage stuff. The thing is, Bohemia also do work on the private military simulators so you can imagine why they are so worried. Also the two cech dudes who have been nicked are both saying they were on a private holiday, as if they are worried to say they were doing contracted work. Cos then they are basically admiting espionage and they are essentially spy’s.

Holy fuck up to 20 years. Damn man, i was reading an article about ARMA 3 in PC gamer and apparently it is proper realistic too, or atleast it was lol. I’m gonna try dig it up actually cause it had some interesting stuff in it actually, aswell as an article on games the military use..

Yeah 20 years if found guilty, the czech president is tryig to convince the,m to let the fellas go, but it isn’t looking good. TBH they should have known better.

Still though it is a little harsh, especially as they know its probably only for the game. It’s a bit heavy handed and brutal lol.. they could have just confiscated the cameras or whatever anyway – but they denied doing it, so were they actually found taking pictures or just suspected?
