“In the Neolithic, people came from far and wide and gathered for celebrations, gatherings and fairs at causewayed camps. This tradition of meeting continued in one form or another for thousands of years. Gatherings such as these fulfilled a very important function in allowing people and ideas to mix. No-one had to apply for a licence and no risk assessments were needed. Our history is constantly evolving, and although we might have forgotten why Morris Men dance or why cheeses are rolled, gathering and celebration is still important. That’s what “the Free” should be about. We need this festival, it’s about being English, more than red and white flags and more than football games in far off lands. Go on, let us gather, let us celebrate, let us play music and dance – LET US BE HUMAN.”
“The Free” is a movement which aims to create an organisation capable of arranging and executing a annual sanctioned FREE lawful festival under Common Law.

basically what’s going to happen is we are going to gather support and we need that to be in large numbers, if the will is there we will form groups of those that wish to be more active to tackle the aims and objectives as and how they see fit within the bounds of rights and law. so keep spreading the word and we will move to see what we can achieve.
The Government have launched a Freedom Web Site and are asking for ideas we have posted ours, if you want to vote for the Right to gather and have a Annual Free Festival for what its worth but we hold no illusions that it will be this easy, we dont have the numbers yet. but if and when we do we will face their objections overcome and bend where we think is right or fair and there is more than one way to “skin a politician”
VOTE HERE YOUR PARTY NEEDS YOU!!!

I would be good to have party vibe on board
“the free” save our festivals action group.
We aim to create an organisation capable of arranging and executing a annual sanctioned FREE lawful festival under Common Law.
A way must be found that allows us to gather and express ourselves, unlicensed without constraints other than those that impinge on another’s equal and inalienable rights.
The event would be worthy and visionary furthering fundamental rights and pursuing freedom to gather. To pursue free will on a grand scale to hold gatherings, encompassing music, song, the spoken word and performance arts without the constraints of a license or corporate commercialism; To achieve recognition that free festivals are part of our culture and heritage and indeed a right.
Aims and objectives.
The First aim to have a Annual Sanctioned Free Lawful Festival.
to seek permission
to organise the campaign
to locate land for a venue
to gather volunteers and organise into sub groups.
to seek legal and common law advice.
to contact sound systems, acts, artists, DJs, relevant websites
to seek recognition that free Festivals are part of our culture, heritage and a right of Free Peoples.
A Second aim would be to look into other types of events that create relevant precedent for our aims. These may include (although not exclusively):
private free parties.
protests events
events to highlight and raise awareness of aim 1
A third aim of this organisation will be to bring together like minded people who share common interests to promote the advancement of:
the arts
culture
heritage
Position statement.
We are in a different world now from when free gatherings, fairs and early to more recent large free music festivals took place. Many of these have gone and what hasn’t been lost is under threat.
As a society we may need to move on but we need to create something to take their place, something that will fit in, something different. We understand the opposition to an open season on very large free gatherings that happen without control but we should be able to replace them with something, that is obvious.
Free events are our heritage and are a place where communities and free peoples with a complete diversity of interests and culture can gather with a common interest of music and the arts from all parts of Britain and also welcoming those from abroad too.
The advancement of art covers a wide range of activities including promoting various forms of art at a national/professional and local/amateur level, the provision of arts facilities and encouraging high standards of art. ‘Art’ includes abstract, conceptual and performance art and representational and figurative art.
These activities include visual arts, performing arts such as music, dance, theatre, literature and poetry.
Culture is a broad term often used in the context of advancing art or heritage.
Heritage might be regarded as part of a country’s local or national history and traditions which are passed down through successive generations.
Activities relating to our heritage may include, folk traditions like maypole and morris dancing including traditional methods for crafts and trades, many of which skills have long since been forgotten.
It is a need and an essential part of keeping Britain a free country or we are being stifled and the country as a whole will loose.
Free parties and Free Festivals are now firmly part of our culture and heritage, they offer a place to go, away from “town center booze culture”, they offer a way into the music industry, as a sound technician and DJ’s for people who would never have a chance otherwise, they form community spirit and a feeling of being part of something worthy beyond capital gain that has turned many a disillusioned person around and given them a sense of right, wrong and purpose.
Quote “Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others.(common law) I do not add ‘within the limits of the law(statute law)’ because law is often but the tyrant’s will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual”. Thomas Jefferson
“Neolithic, people came from far and wide and gathered for celebrations, gatherings and fairs at causewayed camps”
I would love to see some written evidence of this
there’s no written evidence – they didn’t write in the Neo, but there is interpretation of the archaeological evidence, of course its possible that they built these places like windmill hill or henge’s and later stone circles in them and didn’t use them for celebrating and gatherings only virgin sacrifices.
richard bradley – 1993 – ev of mass collections of pottery and bones indicating feasting (also ev of excarnation – leaving bodies to rot,, rituals using dead people seem to be important and focus for gathering and feasting in the neo).
renfrew and bahn – “Each monument seems to have been the focal point for social activities and the burial place of the farming community inhabiting the local territory”
These interpretations are based on the spatial distribution of sites and collections of artefacts at the sites. No-one’s sure what the sites were used for – they can only interpret the evidence.
we also have ev of trade from then – collections of pots and other artefacts made from materials in one place turning up in others – which indicate people from diff areas did get together to trade – not direct ev of gathering at causewayed camps, but part of the interpretative picture.
I cant be arsed to type all the interpretations from the many books on the subject but it
stands to reason if you don’t have TV or Games consuls partying is going to be a big part of entertainment and gathering is an essential part of humans mixing, and in the dark winters it’s hard and nature is chaotic – there are gods to appease and thank and they require feasting.
Even the Normans who had us enslaved knew the importance of fairs and gatherings to stop inbreeding.

that was my point really old chap. There are loads of festivals, party’s, gatherings etc. You can just get a load of people and chill out in the woods all night if you want too. We live in one of the freeist society’s in the world (free, yet successful) despite how much people bang on about this and that. Good luck with your quest though but it seems like hippy clique to me. 🙂
but feel free to tell me how wrong I am, I do like to learn 🙂
so if I pull out some written evidence of the Iraq war, or Afghanistan, or world war two, or from any other part of the history back to the Romans, or from a newspaper your convinced are you. you think you are so free that you can just or should be able to gather in thousands and play music then you live in a different country to me. good luck with that.
“but it seems like hippy clique to me” we want to include many various groups from rave to bands and performers, that’s inclusive not exclusive so how is that “clique” and it sounds like you are using hippy like an insult or you think it shouldn’t have any hippy ethos which sounds clique to me.
if I said I had a safe venue and I wanted to put on tek like in the far west of wales on a deserted airstrip only rigs would turn up and they would all get their rigs confiscated. but if we want to have our right to gather in your so called free country where statutes override your common law rights we are going to have to get permission and they are going to say NO!, its going to take one hell of an effort to overcome their objections and or bend to those that are fair or reasonable and to be a proper festival inclusive and varied so they cant object. If you had noticed free events are not illegal but they can object on the grounds of public disorder and issue such an order making it illegal but for raves it doesn’t even have to be a matter of dis-order just that it has repetitive beats is enough. that’s your free country for you and that a pussy cat law compared to PEL 2003 additions where you don’t even have to be guilty or an organiser, just have records or equipment and they can tie you up for two years of hearings no trial just biased magistrates, ask Panik if you don’t believe me.
I was hoping as I am well known by party vibe for some support, no problem I’ll take your wishes of good luck and be gone if naysayers have the will here or if this is the consensus of opinion I’ll delete the post in a week.
“hippy clique” I suppose I should not take it seriously
No problem with hippies whatsoever

I think I am many things, non of which can be defined by someone I have never met who likes chips and shoulders.

if I said I had a safe venue and I wanted to put on tek like in the far west of wales on a deserted airstrip only rigs wales tek wooo hoo! would turn up and they would all get their rigs confiscated its a risk when u brake the law yes . but if we want to have our right to gather in your so called free country where statutes override your common law rights we are going to have to get permission and they are going to say NO!, a gathering of people and banging out very loud music and taking loads of drugs are 2 different things. Let me guess, neolithic people loved MDMA and K too right?. its going to take one hell of an effort to overcome their objections and or bend to those that are fair or reasonable and to be a proper festival inclusive and varied so they cant object. mate, good luck with it, I dont have to agree with everything you say for fucks sake. And for the record I have no problem with Hippys either, I have dreadlocks down to my waste for fucks sake. I do have a problem with people jumping on bangwagons, or being criticised for not conforming to alternative viewpoints.
Look mate, once again, good luck with it, I dont agree with what ur saying and I dont need to. At least ur thinking outside the box which is more than most. I would say peace and love but that would be so ironic it would hurt my insides.
see above
hi 1984, I would change the neolithic quote which was not mine and from an archaeologist to be more accurate as you pointed out but I cant edit it.
I don’t know how to take you. You put “feel free to tell me how wrong I am, I do like to learn :)” then you say you have a problem “being criticised for not conforming to alternative viewpoints”. while criticising mine. My views are mine and you are entitled to yours and I did not mean to imply any different, I welcome debate and I am happy to be put right, when I write something, often it needs to be corrected and where the neolithic sentiments are good you are correct in pointing out it is guesswork. Errors of opinion need to be tolerated as long as reason is left free to combat it. 🙂
I don’t know what you meant by “hippy clique” and I should of asked instead of assuming. I have no idea what having dreadlocks has do do with liking or disliking hippies but that remark was probably from my assuming you had a problem with hippy’s from the remark “seems like hippy clique to me. :)”.
I don’t know what neolithic peoples did if they gathered as interpretations from evidence dug up is suggested, but if they did gather it is very possible they made music and took drugs but no doubt you are right they didn’t take mdma.
I don’t know what laws Wales Tek broke or what whoo ho wales tek implies.
you say you have a problem with people jumping on bandwagons, I take it that is pointed to me, if nothing else could you explain that.
and yes you dont need to agree and in that light I thank you for your wishes of good luck and comment of thinking outside the box.
🙂

Its all good man, I just find it hard to find this “its our right since the dawn of time” stuff anything other than silly. But its all good, if I was overly rude I apologise. Take it easy
its our right since the dawn of time” stuff and I wish I could reword it, still not sure what the bandwagon remark was but no matter.
glad we got on a better footing thanks, 🙂
you take it easy too.

By the bandwagon thing I just meant its popular for people from similar cultures to have the same belief systems really. Like if your a hippy theres a high chance you believe in crystal healing. Just feels like sometimes people cant just pick and choose the best logical bits they want to believe in the things there peers do. Like if you go to free party’s some people tend to believe its some basic human right (rather than its cheeky fun that is probably really bad for the environment and not that moral). But I didn’t mean it to cause offence and didn’t explain myself properly and am quite possibly talking total bollocks.
