Ketamine: a novel treatment for depression?

I personally value my bladder and the ability to pee too much to even contemplate this ‘treatment’ 😉

the NHS is rolling out IAPT
this is in line with the NICE guidelines – improving access to psychological therapies
it is coming – they are pumping millions and millions into training up therapists and putting them in primary service – there will be ‘low intensity and high intensity therapists’ attatched to places like GP services etc

and as you say you are currently doing what you describe as more intensive therapy – sorry to say whilst your on a downer but we need to be mindful that we are so lucky to have the NHS and free treatment in the UK and mental health services – unlike the USA etc

I dout it, they were talking on radio 4’s mental health program today about how the mental health services are expecting a 20-30% budget cut because of the recession.

I am lucky I live in the UK but relativity is an important concept, I am lucky I am not being gang raped as we speak, but that doesn’t change my perception.

and tbh if I lived in America I would have had good medical insurance and access to far better services than in the UK. They are quite far ahead of us in terms of mental health services for the wealthy (and my parents are relativity well off and I have had problems since I was about 12.

But it could be a lot worse I do agree, and I am lucky I am on this current course, even if it took a LOT of fighting to get it.

joking apart I have known a few K heads who give that study as a reason for their addiction. 2bh being a K head would be a lot better for the depression but a lot worse for the psychosis.

    everything is relative indeed –

and they are spending the money – all you need to do is look on NHS jobs and see the vacancies for the training in IAPT –
It is a NICE guideline they have to follow it for best practice

anyway sorry to say I’m not going to reply any more tonight, all this negativity is not good for me so I am choosing to wander away for the night

i cant belive that k can treat depression. the reason i dont do k anymore is because i did too much for a prolonged period of time about two years ago and became really depressed and had severe anxiety. this passed after about 1 to 2 months when i stopped taking it. but i felt fucking wierd for that month, pretty much locked myself in my room for 3 weeks. dont know what i would have done if a few people off here () hadnt told me to go to the docs.

    thank you partyvibe people! :group_hug

Psychosis (from the Greek ψυχή “psyche”, for mind/soul, and -ωσις “-osis”, for abnormal condition) means abnormal condition of the mind, and is a generic psychiatric term for a mental state often described as involving a “loss of contact with reality“.

Its really terrible for anxiety isnt it, effectively giving yourself schizophrenia if you use K in large amounts all of the time.

Hence the reason why K (being intrinsically disassociative) would not be good for psychosis

Yeah man, defenatly. It also acts as a good model for Schizophrenia; a mental disorder characterized by abnormalities in the perception or expression of reality. It most commonly manifests as auditory hallucinations, paranoid or bizarre delusions, or disorganized speech and thinking with significant social or occupational dysfunction.

Hence why K heads can often end up linking random shit together and thinking people are watching them and all sorts of crap.

damn it though, I want a line still. It is nice.

Do you believe there’s any credibility to the notion that reality is socially constructed ??

I would have said reality is a personal perception. I would guess that that perception would take into account social constructs among other things but know nothing about philosophy and failed A-level psychology so I doubt I am anywhere near right. Would you?
