Hi, there is a party happening April 30 -May 1 near Talog. Near Carmarthen. Flat fields. camping. Bands. DJs. Don’t Know exact address yet but will post it when I do.
ye i went there..it’s pretty lame if u put directions down cuz u could of got it busted..the police turned up anyway but didnt stop the rave its self but told evry1 2 move there cars…no one listened!
I live in Talog =)
was gud party part from the mud.. couldnt see it
wos f*cked =)
Boo
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen a full address posted for a Welsh party…
It may be the case the heddlu don’t care quite as much as in England
I’m trying to learn Welsh from the BBC, and I use the news for practice – all I seem to see there is stuff about the cops , crime, violence, stuff closing down and really shocking stuff likd dead babies in attics 🙁 so its maybe the case the cops really do have more pressing matters to deal with than raves (which is way different from actual tolerance of these events)
its still not that good an idea to be this blatant. If it gives people the idea “Wales is a soft touch”, and vastly increases the numbers of people attending parties / causes a shift of crews into your country from England, it is clearly going to annoy someone and they will then start lobbying the cops, Assembly and who knows whoever else.
Soon enough there will be a clampdown just like the one that has happened in England. Devolution only goes so far as well and if Wales gets a reputation for being “lawless” some of the devolved laws can be, and would be suspended!
Although I am not a regular visitor and I do not know the geography of Wales that well (except I know now not to use Fforest Fawr as a landmark!-D’oh!) I am aware the Trefil site got overused and is now blocked, and an attempt last year by mostly English crews to hold an event in North Wales was broken up violently with a police officer injured, many arrests and a lot of lasting bad feeling. In this climate its probably not a good idea to be so indiscreet.
Sorry folks if giving directions to this party has raised concern. No excuses I’m just an ignorant hedonist.
As it was the pigs turned up on Friday afternoon,4 in total, H&S and all. As it was a private party on private land they were told that their intervention was not welcome and off they went. They did do a bit of roadblocking but thats par for the course around here. Unfortunately the weather was difficult and turned the site into a mud pit, otherwise a lot more vehicles would have got on site and not clogged up the road.
So wot’s the score with letting folk know where the party is. Any advice is welcome.

it clearly seems that the cops in your area are more lenient; (which force of the 4 Welsh forces is it?) In England they would not have accepted the “private party” excuse and would have tried to prosecute the organisers for “unlicensed entertainment”, and/or called for backup until they had enough cops to shut the rave down.
I am not sure whether the devolution means that the laws are now slightly different in Wales, and the local councils (who need to assist the cops press charges) are not as yet doing so. if you have any legal or political students you know, you may wish to check with them. It might be a cultural thing as well, a country which has a long-standing musical heritage may not want to be seen clamping down on the local music scene!
The danger is more for your local scene. The weather is getting better (even in Wales 😉 ) English rigs are getting a hard time, and may wish to join you when they see posts like this and think ” look at these Welsh, if they can put whole addresses on public message boards anyone can party there!”
Sadly, not all of them have the common sense or courtesy to ask first, and may overwhelm a small village where there are only a few access roads. It could also be hard to turn away a fellow rave crew (who may then just set up in a less appropriate place due to lack of local knowledge and cause further problems).
People unfamiliar to the area may get lost and drive around aimlessly, park up in peoples private land etc and then all your villagers understandably complain about the invasion and the heddlu finally think enoughs enough and go storming in..
I’d just suggest you use a partyline, and send it to people via the private message facility.
I would state here thought that this is not 100% security. Whilst we carry out some security checking on users (mostly to remove spammers and people just trying to sell commercial products) , we cannot check everybody and there is TBH nothing stopping a cop or an anti-rave vigilanté registering here as well if they just lurk or send PM’s (moderators here do not normally look at other peoples PM’s, unlike on other boards!)
But by doing so this also shows its a private event by invitation only – no different from when you have your own birthday and decide who to invite round your house, it will also make it easier to keep an eye on the numbers so you do not get overcrowded (it can happen and causes big problems in the long term) and will make it easier to ensure those who attend your events are actually true party people who understand what free parties are about (those who do not can cause other problems.).
The nearest big town was either Carmarthen or Newcastle Emlyn so probably was Dyfed Powys police. They did stop quite a few people from coming on site on Sunday, but the determined got there anyway. There does seem to be a lot more tolerance in rural Wales, anything to distract from rain and sheep.
I got a bit fed up seeing the same old faces clutching Stella cans around the outside fire at parties and a few new faces wouldn’t go amiss, hence the move to broaden the scope. Guess it’s quite broad then! The scope that is.
anyone going to the llandovery party dis weekend?
Dyfed-Powys Police were the force sent to the Dragonmoot last year at Trefil – they were a bit concerned at the number of people who had attended as there were stacks of English crews as well but apparently said to someone from an English rig “just you lot stay there, and don’t set up anywhere else, or we will give you shit, because we are the Heddlu”.
I’ve read that “Trefil is the ashtray of Gwent” so maybe cops didn’t mind the party that much, but apparently there were a few more parties then the villagers got annoyed and the place was blocked by boulders and still remains blocked…
AFAIK there’s quite a few rigs in Wales. There was a fair contingent of Welsh ravers on SJ – to the point where every so often they would sometimes reply to threads in Welsh to confuse those who only knew English..
Anymore info on that one then?
had a great time at Talog apart from the mud!
Just wondering if anyone else got their car vandalised or was I just the unlucky one?
Anyone know of summat this weekend, if so could you prime minister me please!?
:surprised
Cheers ‘vibers
Party crews who use partyline’s beaware the police have started using new tactics.
We had a party at the weekend, planned to have directions up by 11.00pm. At around 9.00pm our line was cut off so if you called you would be told “number not recognised” The number did however work if you had the line switched on but this meant answering to every caller who phoned the line, because if we didnt answer it would ring then immediatly cut off the person calling. The line didnt become active until 5.00pm the following day. We were linking up with another sound system who experienced the exact same problem with their line.
Subsequently we have changed our line to attempt to prevent this from happening in the future.
Has anyone else ever experienced the same problems?
I’m thinking as it was Glastonbury weekend this may well have had something to do with it although our event was in the South Midlands and a private birthday free party.
Also I read in another thread that OB have started ringing lines on the night in an attempt to find out where the party will be to try to prevent it from happening – This is definitely true as one of the calls (from a private number) was a oldish guy, very well spoken, who said as we answered, “errrrrr oh, sorry, errrr i must have the wrong number, i’m looking for my son errrr…..” line goes dead. 2 minutes later the “Witheld” number calls again, and again, and again.
PULL THE OTHER ONE OB . Were not that stupid!! you obviously are as your ringing the line when you’ve cut it off!!!!!!!!
