PULL THE OTHER ONE OB . Were not that stupid!! you obviously are as your ringing the line when you’ve cut it off!!!!!!!!
yeah, they been doing this for a while.
In the manchester area, most of the partyline numbers were provided by several pple (prob unknowingly) who had a clutch of proper message servide numbers- u know, the ones u can leave really long msgs on and have tons of pple call without it going engaged/crashing. one number was used for years for warehouse parties, and was seemingly shut down last year, followed in much less time by the subsequent number. another number used for 3 years by a crew that on ly did stuff in the countryside seems to have met the same fate, with service finally dissapearing after a few weird things happening at 2 previous parties. when guys that had acquired the numbers originally tried to find out what had happened, think they were told were no longer available, altho dont think service provider mentioned action by authorities, but seems that was what happened.
have looked a bit into message/info line services on tinternet, and spoke to a company that runs thousands and discussed privacy issues. guy said they get abt 1 request a month from authorities for details of a subscriber. RIPA legislation lets them do this, didnt mention the legislation GL referred to, tho i have no reason to doubt that the powers use this too.
so, looks like this is happening in sum way or other in several placves for several years. no biggie i rkn. just more reason to keep aprties low key, not piss off the locals, and keep changing numbers. also try and get more than 1 number, and have other methods so all doesnt go tits up if yr number fails – auto texting, members only sections on forums, printed directions, convoys and meet up points.
perhaps?
Do me a favour, the Very best they can do is an approximation within a few hundred yards. This takes about 24hrs to authorise and is bloody expensive.
The OB are NOT going to do this, as they wont get the authority from the commission who run the authorities. Seriously.
Stop it with this scaremongering crap.
PS: The most they will do is monitor a website and partyline. They dont even bother posting messages as they need authority for this as well!
they can get a lot closer that ‘a few hundred yards’ but even if they couldn’t, thats all the information they’ll need to find an outdoor party.
if they’re doing it properly they’ll be tracking organisers private mobiles as well as the partyline mobile, only way to stop it being tracked is to remove the battery, turning it off doesn’t stop it sending signals.
if they can get authority to send up a helicopter and get several vanloads of riot police on the scene, i’m sure they can track a mobile, i suppose it just depends on how much they want you
The RAC use mobile tracking technology on customers who use mobile phones and who don’t quite know where they are.
It does not take 24 hours for this to take place and the RAC can do it if need be – aparently after I spoke to one in my last job.
Can anyone confirm the above?

Dudes : not sure if it has been mentioned…
VOIP is exploding and setting up automated lines it pissless 😀
you can set up many numbers and terminate them all on a system anywhere in the world…

the Police have defnitely used this facility at short notice for a number of reasons, and used logs from mobile phone companies to trace movements in high-profile cases such as murders or major drugs dealing.
It does require the authorisation from Ofcom / Information Commissioner but
whilst there may have been longer timescales to obtain this authority there is an increasing trend in all public services to fast-track these sort of requests where there is a need to do so.
its possible that the RAC have got a Memorandum of Understanding with the Roads Policing Units of local Police forces; that enables them to request this info urgently, although I suspect its more often used for lone female drivers lost in remote areas than anyone else.
its also possible (and perhaps more likely) that when someone joins the RAC they have an option to have this service activated, and signing the contract for RAC service gives authorisation for RAC to liaise with their mobile telephone provider to have access to the geographical location info.
At first when our infolines would go down at about 10pm the night of a party/arty we just thought that it was an annoying coincidence. But now that it happens quite regularly i have my susspitions that we may not be alone….
and this is inna sity, no glastonbury rivals. just us, some phat rig and a lot of poised ravers.
v.annoying!
fukt our haloween party up no end!

Not quite the same thing but i know two large mobile telecom companys definitley do it, In my line of work theres contract between us and those two companys so that we have the right, with a court order, to cut off comunications indefinitley from a mobile phone if certain criteria are met, like divulging information or blah blah blah.. also the signal source can be triangulated using the three closest mobile signal repeaters.. scary stuff huh.. but it cant be done to pay as you go phones, But i guess your talking about static lines here… its a wierd world we live in where police think they have the right to stop people talking.. sad. but hey. from experience if you install a black box to the line hub down your road (the big green cabinet) they shouldnt be able to block the number, mainly because it should keep jumping lines when the signal goes down on one of them.. your neighbours will get pissed off though.. theyre lines will get cut off if its forced to switch line.. just a thought lol give me a shout if you need one built for you/
i have been running pirate radios for years and yes the cops can track a phone easy but its very costly to them as they have to rely on other companys to do this,
I have been caught once as we had a mobile studio hotline but this i belive was there excuse as i belive we where grassed up
ANYONE WATCHING THIS IM LIEING AND NEVER RUN A PIRATE STATION OR KNOW WHAT THEY ARE
