i got the pm last night .. i was rather drunk at the time and did actually reply my mob no back .. in the pm they gave the partyline number i have already so i thought it was all ok .. i dunno.

thinking bout it .. its probally the stupided thing to do sending random ppl pm’s asking for their mob numbers so u can tell them where and when the party is ..

I’ve had a PM from the author of the messages on this site at least who’s well known here and his intentions were legitimate…

because the party line number was in the pm i thought it was not fake.

but do they really know who they are sending these pm’s too? anyone could get hold of the number now. they could be sending direct txts to the police stating where and when they are going to hold their party.

exactly – the cops new digital radios are also mobile phones, can be allocated a number like any other phone and send and receive text messages…

it is a nice thought to have the ppl who go to ur party’s numbers so u can txt them and tell them details and stuff, id love to get a txt at 11 sat night saying right see u here in 2 hrs or whatever .. but with technology today its just not practical .. the bottom line is anyone who is a serious party goer will always be able to get hold of the number or kno where the party is at .. wether it be through your own friends, friends uve met at parties or crew members actually putting on the party.

just stick to who you know and word of mouth, technology always over complicates everything.

its OK if used well and it can help if you end up having to move into a new area (this site helped me to meet lots of new people when I moved away from Reading) but people still need to be friendly and create a social network themselves, they can’t expect computers to do it automatically.

Also text message servers get overloaded, and it can take hours for messages to arrive sometimes…

Could be a blag but also could not. Few mates have given their numbers to these sorts of things and now get messages about partys from a variety of rigs!

I can SEE some goods points especially from GL about Privacy of the party line etc etc

but we have used this methord for over a year now and is effective not only for people that hardly ever uses the internet but for people that dont go partying every week and get the latest info

at the end of the day you can either send ya number or not its and invitation like anything else you have a choice

i see it as a good idea and am gonna use this to its full protentiol

I think its a good idea as long as the pms weren’t sent to all users, just the ones whos post have been read on a fairly regular basis that dont send of OB alarm bells in ure head
