yeah all true but when yr in the right bang in the countyrside not a house for at least 20 miles who are you anoying

obviously I don’t know the Northern scene that well but someone with a bit of clout must have complained for things to go that far.

We’ve not had a copper post on this board for 5 years….

your venue was probably owned by a prominent landowner or businessperson, or the dog walkers/ramblers in your area all made statements to the Police.

Many landowners/farmers/dogwalkers/randoms are often just “friendly” with ravers when they see a party in full swing because they are shit scared they will get beaten up if they dared to express disagreement when heavily outnumbered (NOT that most ravers would do such a thing).

And even if you clear up most of the rubbish there is always some left behind as well as the human shit.. :yakk: – so clean up costs are passed back to the landowner and the local Council.

Because of this, nowadays lots of “normals” don’t see a rave as harmless “robin hood” type mischief, they now feel that someone has been bullied and intimidated off their own land by a mob of people, and the locals think that grassing you up is “standing their ground and standing up to bullies” rather than being a killjoy.

Until attitudes change it is always gonna be this “stalemate” situation and no one is winning, not the landowners, not the locals, not the ravers, nor the cops..

we had to stop posting bout partys on the net a good while a go

the police have a job to do unfortunatly and it just seems to clash with what we all class as fun

I am a real Policeman….sorry. I have read a number of threads and the majority of contributors are clearly rational and intelligent people, who realise that we have a role to play to protect landowners and residents etc. Please take the advice given in the spirit in which it was intended. Incidentally I have spoken to “Timid Rabbit” and given a similar message

why dont you realise we have a right to party without goin into city centres payin £3.00 a pint, £15 door fee, searches, fights, shit music…

“rational” bein the key word here methinks. i like goin out n havin an ace time without havin to worry about gettin kicked in for no reason

if you check this… please answer… do you at least appreciate where we are comin from and why we go to these parties?

    Hmm…get off our land! :laugh_at:

Have you ever read the book 1984, or seen the film ‘minority report’. I suppose its unlikely…

But you are at the sharp end of the surveillance state. Are you comfortable with scrutinizing individuals who have committed no crime?

Its not like you are stopping murderers, catching paedophiles or thwarting terrorists.

why don’t you do something useful, instead of wasting our taxes on this… Spy on some US rendition flights, investigate BAE corruption in the Saudi arms deal, put someone in the dock for de Menezes’s murder.

You are doing a grubby and politically motivated job, i’ve got more respect for Paris Hilton, at least she knows she’s a parasite.:yakk:

A little bit harsh I have to say, from my experience the majority of police are so so passionate about doing a job where all they are trying to do is to look after civilians like us and make our society just that little bit safer.

At the end of the day, I may not agree with some of the morals of the police but it doesn’t make them bad people (or ‘parasites’), just as the fact that they may not agree with my morals doesn’t necessarily make me a bad person.

In isolation, that sentence sounds harsh, but in the context of my whole post, i think it stands up…

i agree that the police have a job to do (and we need them to do it), but when they are monitoring people who pose little threat to people and property, i question their priorities and their motives. If they were attempting to stop serious crime, by watching us, then i would have no problem with it.

And I’m certainly not alone in suggesting that we are slipping quietly into a surveillence state, indeed, only last month one senior police officer made exactly the same point, in regard to CCTV. Top fact, the UK has 20% of the world’s CCTV cameras. Do you not find that scary?

Here is an interesting piece from 2006, note the last few paragraphs which contain the statement from the spokesman from ACPO.
