all our lot from the UK are back safely – they say they had a good time..
but one of the lads from Oblivion (the southern lot, not the hardstyle rig) was attacked by caterpillars and needed emergency medical treatment from the red cross. Other people in the British crew also had other more minor allergic reactions from the caterpillars.
then our lot were attacked by a crew of French chavs and had to leave the site for their own safety – there are also reports of a generally agressive atmosphere [compared to what people were used to in Britain] – this surprises me TBH!
at the end the usual unfriendly cops and gendarmes cleared the site rather agressively
to cap it all it appears that no-one cleared up their rubbish properly (mind you probably because the English crews who would have tidied up were ejected and the cops intimidated the others to leave the site before clear up was done – and there was loads of unburied shit – the prefect is pissed off and says he definitely won’t allow it next year
I would expect the EU is monitoring these events which doesn’t bode well for legal teknivals in any other EU country.
I wouldn’t quite say “c’est une catastrophe” like the DST bloke always does in the film “Taxi” 🙂 – my friends stuck together and made the best of the situation as they always do – but TBH I’m glad I stayed in the UK -even if I was in Swindon!
I suffer from allergies myself so those caterpillars would have been a real danger to me, and I can’t see the point of spending hundreds of Euros to risk being attacked as this can just as easily happen in Britain…
that said I am not blaming the French for being any more violent than any other nation in Europe. A lot of the French ravers are decent people and it was a minority who attacked the English crews… I feel sorry for the organisers as well…
This is a problem with any large group – if you were to have a tek in UK (even a legal one) I reckon there would still be two crews of people who wanted to fight and trouble would kick off… we’ve had to defuse situations like this at our moots…
but its something we all need to evolve beyond if we want to have these events without being hassled and nannied by authorities.
Wiiiiiikkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiddddddddddddd!
This rave was ACE, i LOVED IT! The killapillars didn’t get me, but the rave did!
It was a fuckin excellent weekend, we all had a great time. Big up to all the crews, rigs and ravers that made it so much fun.
It was a shame we got attacked by the pikeys, but us and our french rig compadres moved off site to a beautiful green field next to a river and chilled out with our own private party.
Bring on the next one…………

I just saw one of our lot on the way to work today who said he had a good time apart from the pikeys and finding two caterpillars in the car…
to be fair I think everyone involved in the FrTek from rigs etc did their best – its more the fault of the municipal authorities there for dragging their heels on the licensing and the so-called “green movement” for whinging and trying to stop the rave [they’ve lost my vote now in the UK until they can prove they would not do a similar thing if they were in power] (some of the media were actually gloating about the caterpillars as they said “it was natures striking back”)
as environmentalists they should have perhaps warned people about the presence of the caterpillars which are native creatures to Europe (not some unexpected alien species) – these are uncommon in Britain apart from certain areas, so had visitors from the UK been made aware of the situation then perhaps people could have taken appropriate avoiding action and less of them would have needed treatment (I had no idea these things even existed and I work with organisations which that monitor exotic animal species!)
but I bet the hassle of not having the license granted in good time made organisers forget this – and it wouldn’t surprise me that the “pollution” was directly the cause of the agressive way in which the site is cleared by armed police without leaving sufficient time to clear up?
anyway I hope that one day we can have a teknival in Britain – with agriculture becoming less economically viable in our own country as subsidy patterns drastically change and farms shift to Eastern European states why could society not just permit teknivals? it makes more sense than the poinless conflicts between rigs, cops and landowners which blight every summer in Great Britain and lead to bad feelings across our nations communities.
