A teknival from the Government
Following the official announce of the government about a Teknival in Crucey, The French “Collectif des Sound Systems” had to react.
This event is organized by the Interior Ministry (who officially says that they are subjected to it), not only without any consultation of us but also in direct competition with the teknival that we are supporting.
After 5 years of negociations, the situation of the free non commercial tekno movement haven’t evolved. We have largely proved our good will and cannot be satisfied with just some more promises.
We asked, in exchange of accepting the government participation to this event, some precise engagements from the concerned ministries, principally the engagement of a work planning (6 months) to promote the non commercial cultures (small independent festival ; free-party ; teknival and all other kind of cultural events).
We asked for this cultural difference to be officially backed by the law and to receive help for this from the following ministries :
– Ministry of Culture, for the acknowledgement of the amateur non commercial artistic culture ;
– Ministry of Justice, to get finally to be applied the laws concerning us ;
– Ministry of Health, as the tekno movement was the first to ask for drug prevention and risks reduction ;
– Ministry of Youngness, as they are in charge of associative life organization.
Due to the lack of official engagements on their side, we announced to the Interior Ministry our intention to not accept their help in the preparation of this event. this Ministry is trying, by announcements in the press, to organize its own event, to prevent the autonomous Teknival organized by the French Sound Systems.
when the government is trying to organize a teknival without the agreement of the sound Systems, it is like the world turning upside down !
This attempt of takeover on our cultural events is unacceptable.
We wanted to inform you that the teknival supported by the French “Collectif des Sound Systems” will be held in a scret place far from Normandy. It will starts on the 1st may and will last till the 4th may 2008.
Also, the event organized by the government will happen without any coordination from our side and without the help of the Risks Reduction associations who will go to the autonomous Teknival.
The governement has to take his own organizers responsibilities and stop to claim that they are subjected to it
