  • Just lately i have been reading up alot about genesis 1988 which as you know were legendary partys and that started when the country was in recession and people wernt happy and had no money and a new style of music was out, well i think its time for it all to start again were in recession and alot of people have no jobs and arnt happy with life and electro house music is become very mainstream and alot of artistes use the back beat for there music such as rianna and chris brown also djs like sweedish house mafia and avicci are very popular even with people that arnt really into that style of music! due to the recession there are alot of empty and up for lease buildings every where. you may think im being far feched and not realistic i just want to share it with ppl and see what they thought i have never trown a rave or know anyone who has which is why i wanted to post it on here to people that do! i love partys, raves, festivals and have been to many and try to go to ibiza once a year so i know the scene please feel free to leave feed back thanks

    I love punctuation.

    lol not my stongest point

Just messing with ya! Welcome to PV.

Welcome to PV. Stuff like this already goes on and has done for years so wouldnt really see it as a gap in the market. “Warehouse Raves” “Forest Raves”

I dont tend to hear rihanna and britney spears at these sort of things tho 😛

thanks you, ya it does go on but there so varied most of them seem to have ppl moshing and putting there heads in speakers and thats fine if your into that! but i dont know if u see any of the tomorrow land festival theres lack of that music and atmosphere like that at free partys well the events i hear and go to anyway

You have to remember though that in ’88 (the Summer of Love 2.0) electronic music WAS new and completely alien to a lot of people.
    Pre-internet, pre-cellphone, pre-a lot of stuff really.

There just wasn’t the communication infrastructure that there is today and which we take for granted. Because everything took so long to take a hold on people it remained in their minds a whole lot longer as well so the ‘new music’ sensation made an indelible impression. Combine that with the general mood and you had a winning PR formula.

Now things move SO much faster that any ‘new music’ flashes up on trending topics and is gone before people can pay it any attention. There is also about a billion more people trying to make ‘new music’ and get it out to the public than there ever used to be so I just don’t think anything will take a hold like it once did ever again.

    Except skiffle band music.

S to the K to the I, Fuh, Fuh, Leh!

On top of all that there are innumerable security measures put in place in affluent and densely populated areas specifically to prevent any market gaps getting filled by party animals and the like.

Get a hold of a time machine or wormhole and we can start over but not until.

Tomorrowland 2011 | official after movie – YouTube watch that link thats the sort of music im talking about andatmosphere look at the ppl loving it

If your simply trying to make Tomorrowland, go to Tomorrowland.

Raves and Festival are at heart roughly the same thing, but both are very different, and if you want to organise one, then make yours original, different and harbor the atmosphere you want there. Be your own festival, if you try to copy what others have done you’ll end up disappointed.

The world changes, and a lot of the parties of yesteryear arent possible for lots of reasons (changes in society, the law, etc.) For example, organising a legitimate Free Festival like the ones of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s would be almost impossible due to the restrictions imposed by Governments and Councils.

to be fair I can see what the OP means and it looking at (and I was watching the Tomorrowland video too) but its not as simple as it seems. I was a idealistic teenager when that stuff like Genesis happened but there was other political issues what aren’t going to happen today, back then the folk in power were way old and decrepit and out of touch.

Now those in power are the same age as me but they are the ones what studied and worked hard whilst scum like me partied and its not surprising that they want their revenge, (even if some did rave for a bit they gave it up when their parents told them to) and I can’t even blame them after some of the shit what happened back in the day, my generation of ravers did some cool things but also some shitty things which is why we are still judged especially in these ends.

OK I have been lucky and now have a good job and house etc (I can do some stuff with computers and electronics as well as just make music and pretty pictures with them which does help) but there are a lot of casualties from my age group in East Anglia who are having to be supported by their families, the NHS and other organisations because of a few years hedonism.

I understand fully why folk here look across the North Sea and wonder “why can’t we have events like in Belgium or Holland or Germany or Denmark?”

This is because the folk there, ravers, councillors, even old bill actually work together, discuss things and compromise instead of being stubborn, and also try to make their events about a bit more than drugs, music, fast cars and having fun – making sure things like health and safety are properly looked after and that venues are cleaned up afterwards. Also in many cases they run their events as business and pay taxes and licenses on time and without whinging and pay their suppliers on time as well. That sort of shit is important (and yet their events are more affordable than similar ones in the UK).

if we ever want anything like these nations we can and must learn from them.

PS: another thing I noticed about tomorrowland (the live films too) and the culture associated with the European rave scene from the film and also a bit of wider research is that Dutch and Belgian folk are experts at not looking completely fucked on 100-200 mg “hele mooie pillen” when they clearly are, and they don’t openly make a big thing about bragging about how much drugs they have taken or claiming its “activism” by dealing or using them. they party at weekends, then once its over they get on with their work, education etc and try and do their best, not lunch things out on a 3 day comedown. there are good reasons for this and its not because they are cowards or paranoid about their feds/government/…
