Hey all,
I’d quite like to throw a party, but i’m gonna have to do it outside.
Any ideas on what size/spec (I know nothing on this subject) generator i would need for:
1000w Amplification/speakers
Decks & Mixer
Some sort of small lighting so we can see
Also, i could do with an idea of how much this would cost for a night, and how much fuel it might use.
Cheers everyone!
dont use a cheap one. dont use a petrol one. those are the two rules standard.
HSS Hire – Generators Tool Hire and Equipment Rental
HSS is a good hire company.
the 2.6kva diesel on there is probably your best bet.

Pretty much like he says – absolute minimum would be a 2.5KVA, and preferrably one with seperate breakers so your lighting can be on a different one to your sound equipment. Shouldn’t cost you much more than £50 for a weekend (then you need to add in the fuel costs – not sure what they would be as they will vary from generator to generator – we usually put aside about £60 for it – and either get the fuel from a friendly farmer, or the generator company as you can use red diesel for a genny and it will cost a lot less the white diesel from a petrol station).
But yeah – definetly diesel (petrol is too prone to surging to be much use for sound equipment), and definetly a good one (a cheap one would likely cost you more in fuel anyway)…
