  • Shazam is from Bedfordshire (about 60 miles away), not Norfolk. ToocoolTom does have a point inasmuch that crews from other counties / SE England recently also helped rinse Norfolk as their areas had been locked off. Some Bedford crews even tried partying Suffolk warehouses, then wondered why the feds closed them down very quickly.

he’s also right that the young’uns are being punished for stuff what happened years ago when many were in junior school, but people don’t forgive and forget. Not when some of the stuff like addictions and mental health issues are long lasting.

As daft as it may seem, the cops genuinely think they are doing something good by stopping raves and much of society particularly parents, educators, business leaders and faith groups are behind them. There’s a whole wide world outside the party scene…

cant believe, norfolk parties are still being discussed!

are they all still moshing like twats, clambering all over the rig & rinsing shite hard trance & hard style?

Standard mate, personaly i hate it but alot of people round here love it. Bloody norfolk bumkins! :laugh_at:

people do it in SE England and the West as well, even if they deny it. its certainly not confined to “Norfolk” – I’ve seen it with my own eyes, started happening from 2003 onwards, and I didn’t move here till 2006.

I don’t really appreciate moshing as I prefer to dance. However, the first time I witnessed (around 2004) the often labeled “gay hand holding power up” thing that the younger ravers did it reminded me very much of happier and more unified days and I was pleased to see it.

Time will tell whether TooCoolTom is right but for me it’s changed a little too much. That said, I really do hope a new crowd in EA come through with the right attitude and that the free party scene is regenerated in a good way.

i can not stand moshing at parties!!

you wont see a mosh in bristol! thats fact that is!

    were far too cool! :weee:

I nearly went to briston on nye for a party, wish i had of looked like a badaboy rave. No moshing, pro audio and tones of dnb <3

its not true though that every EA crew has crap equipment, my local crews do (or did) have some very good kit indeed, its just that certain folk think its “too geeky” to bother studying how it works and getting the best out of it.

in a crew of perhaps 10+ core people, 2 or 3 people really care about the sound, party etc, the rest just want to get fucked with as little effort as possible, and this is why the parties have gone to shit in recent times.

what has fucked up the party scene across England is nothing to do with moshing, or music genres, or sound equipment, or feds or locals, its because the many of the people at parties aren’t there for the right reasons and don’t care about one another or the wider impact of their parties on society like they once used to – they just have a sense of entitlement to party on other peoples private property, a co-dependency on drugs and easy money from selling them and little other values.

yes parties do still happen in some areas like Bristol and London but thats because feds are dealing with much more violent crime and other incidents compared to East Anglia or SE England, so stopping raves isn’t a priority. in other areas raves are as much a source of the crime, including violence – TBH in the last few of years I’ve not seen any difference between raves and townie places other than the drugs and the music, and I’ve seen as many fights as in townie places. I don’t just mean “norfolk” either, it was getting bad in SE England.

I love the way that a particular style of dancing is described as “dancing like twats”, when attending a rave, you generally see alot of people dancing in unusual ways, and it doesnt matter what end of the country you are in.
The idea of mosh being “gay” and confined to one group of people is rubish aswell, ive been to enough parties to know that people mosh everywhere.

Parties i have been to outside of norfolk, for me, have a compeltely different atmosphere. yeh they have your usual hippy ravers who go to every party, but there is also a LARGE percentage of chavs and ‘ard nuts who are the kind of ppl who wud rob u if u gave em the chance. (im not saying we dont have those kind of ppl in norfolk, but from experiance i find more at parties elsewhere)

The music is generaly pointed in the “everything-tek” direction whereas i prefer the verything oldskool and phat not new and electronic.

I mite like norfolk parties coz i know evry1 there, but its different when the bedford crews come out, and every1 from norfolk convoys to bedford. Then ive got all my friends at bedford party, but the atmosphere just aint the same.
When us Narrfukkers are in our own ends, we love to party and if that means we love to look “gay”, and “dancing like twats” then so be it, isnt the idea of being at a free party that you are free of inhibitions? ? ?

    To GL

you are right about the fact that there are lots of rigs out there but they only have 2 or 3 main peeps who make it all happen. i know this because i speak from experience!
Every crew i know, there is one main sound techy, and 2 or 3 more ppl who have put money into the rig, and the rest of the crew who just mix or lugg speakers around!

I came here from London/SE England and would definitely agree with this. Yes, there are a lot of sketchy k-heads here but most are harmless and many quite funny TBH… and OK there are townie-style arguments over girls etc between folk what know one another and friends fall out over drugs debts/other issues but it is very rare to hear of random robberies/violence or people attending a rave simply to cause trouble.

Ive been to a party before (im not saying where coz i dont want the argument), basicly, different gangs of hard nuts turned up, and kind of seperated the car park into areas where they tried to dominate selling drugs and nos, the thing was, all their drugs were fake or shit, and the nos wasnt real nos. So they were there just to rip ppl off and intimidate them.

mate the thunderbitch was sounding sweet! it was a fat party! raaa

moshing is shite! true fact for the follwing reasons

    1) it stops people who do not want to be in the mosh from joining the dancefloor, for fear of a sweaty person crashing into them
    2) if free parties are about expression of ones self, how is standing in unison doing the same thing promoting that!
    3) you cant see sexy raver girls clearly
    4) damage to speakers – moshing will normally cause all the shite on the dancefloor to be kicked into the bins
    5) knocking a stack over, theres a great example on youtube & gues what it was in norfolk!
    6) other people who do not want to mosh are prohibited from dancing

I dont really have a problem with moshing i just dont take part in it and avoid the partys that will only be playing hardtrance etc.

i just think its sooooooooo out of touch with the spirit of free partying.

hard trance is not for me, however it does have a 4×4 so i can have a dance for about 40 mins!

there is some jolly good trance out there

mark eg imagination 1996/1997 helter skelter – that set is wicked!

It seems theres is a stigma attached to any1 from this end of the country and i dont think its fair.

Alot of norfolk ravers dont come out unless its a norfolk party, coz they know they arnt guna get the phat mosh and party vibe that soooo many people talk about all over the country.

I geuss its probably better that the party scene has its divisions, coz otherwise there would be too many people all wanting to be in the same place at the same time and the parties wouldnt happen, hence what happened at new years in MK ASDA (ASDATEK – to those who were there!)

Free parties are not about the expression of ones self, its an expression of many peoples ideas and beleifs into one place at one time.
