    Pah….you d ride it ….

“back in my days tools had no sleeves” is my favourite answer…Saying that, you’re too young to know anything of what was good : )

just got back > chaos in the car park ! not enough toilets ! still had it ! sore feet ! muddy ! wicked lazers!:bounce_fl

There were no chavs there. They are all off to Global Gathering next week. They can only save enough dole for one festival a year.

met all sorts of people and some well sound ones .have u seen thedreadzone glade river run on you tube

nothing will ever be the same again

get used to the idea 😉

well you are intitleld to your oppinion .. but is there anyone out there that is out of there twentys and has experienced some of the old skool festys and partys and give me there opinion .. as you teenagers dont know any different.. :groucho::argue_mad

I’m out of my twenties, and went to lots of “old skool” festy’s (I lived around Oxford, and partied hard most weekends (missed Castlemorton, but went to Lechlade…:bounce_fl)

I thought the Glade was superb – it did me good to see there are loads of “young un’s” who are becoming proper hardcore partyheads (and everybody who was there and stayed defo gets that badge IMO)… Atmosphere was excellent, and I feel reassured that the younger ravers are carrying the spirit on….

As for it selling out or whatever – I didn’t think it has. I run a rig, and am always up for doing parties, free or otherwise, but I have nothing against someone making a living (and helping fund all sorts of projects as the Glade do). Having helped organise not for profit legal events in the past, I can tell you doing it for nothing becomes a thankless task quite quickly – the hoops you have to jump for PEL’s, and whatnot are a royal pain. Add to that a bunch of whingers trying to tell you that “it shouldn’t be like this – we should be able to do…” fill in the blanks as appropriate, and you are getting flak from all angles (nobody seems to get the simple fact that there are some things the authorities want, and you don’t get the license if they aren’t done…)

Considering they managed to organise not only the legal gymnastics required, but also got 12 stages, countless good musicians, superb sounding systems, and 10,000 people (along with all the necessary logistics to not only survive some of the worst flooding the area has seen in years, but to manage to make it fun for most of us there) is little short of miraculous.

And all for £110 a ticket?

No, it’s not sold out, or turned into a money spinning rave for kiddies – there was no corporate sponsorship or radio/tv deals. The organisers have resisted that particular carrot, but they have also gotten older and wiser, and are unwilling to do the work involved for no benefit to themselves – it’s easy to say “they get a good party” or the satisfaction of making something special happen out of it, but I can tell you from experience that enjoying the party is the last thing they probably got time to do – and the satisfaction is usually spoiled by the inevitable horde of folk who know how it should be done properly (odd that there are so many who know how to do it, and yet most of the really vocal ones are only ever vocal about it…:bored:)

I saw a fair few old school travellers there too, and no chavs AFAIK (what is a chav anyway?)… But I am glad they didn’t organise it in a “laid back hippy” way like the raves 15 years ago (ie not really organise – just all land in the same place with some rigs) – it would have been a nightmare with the weather as it was to have none of the details arranged – imagine the place without toilets that were cleaned and emptied, or without a constant supply of fresh water??? The mud was bad, but swimming around in sh*t would have been far worse…..:hopeless:

Not saying all parties have to be done like this – I’m all for the free party thing (and put my rig where my mouth is plenty as well).

But for the really big ones – they have to be organised or it’s too easy to have them run out of control if something unexpected happens (at which point people get hurt). Somebody has to do that organising, and the money required mounts up very quickly… It has to come from somewhere…..

And as for “chavs”, or “posh kids” – since when did the rave generation start discriminating on the basis of labels, age or upbringing (I must have missed that meeting:you_crazy).

That’s not far different from doing it based on creed, colour, or cultural background.

“Back in the day”, raves were places to go and get away from the pigeon holing, and pre-judging of general society. Everybody was welcome and accepted for what they were as long as they didn’t do anything to spoil the experience of others… Peace, Love, Unity, Respect – remember. A philosophy I saw plenty of evidence of at the Glade…

Have you considered the possibility that it isn’t the parties that are all that changed, but that you have changed instead? And if you are sure it’s the parties that are going downhill, then why not do it properly yourself? (at least you can be sure it wouldn’t become commercial and sold out then, and we can have another party to go to:groucho:)

    well said

and since you wrote that… everything has changed 😉

evolution in action and all to the good for it raaa

i can see the plus sides of the glade this year ..just can see it turning into something like v .. fest or global gathering.. instead of what it was when it first started .. it had the feel of a free party but with the organization ..:crazy_diz

does anyone know if any thiefing went on this year .. and did you know about the security beating up and stealing from punters last year mmm ..

Had to be said…. Guy was sounding like one of Unseen University’s wizards…

“Do you remember old… “Fill in blank” Now that’s what you call…” Fill in blank” You don’t get them like that nowadays… Young people just don’t have/do proper…” Fill in blank” any more.”:you_crazy:you_crazy:you_crazy:laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at:

Changing is good – if I ever look about and realise things have stopped changing, I will be checking myself for a pulse (just in case I’ve kicked the bucket and just not noticed…:weee:)

Just because the new generation of ravers don’t do it exactly the way it used to be done doesn’t mean they’re getting it wrong (in many cases, it means they’re taking notice of some of the screw ups we made, and trying not to make them….)

As you say – evolving…. But the spirit remains the same….raaaraaaraaa

nice one noname, on both posts raaa

    safe

Glade was excellent, weather (although i complained when i fell over) added to it i recon … theres nothing like having to wade into a festival 🙂 makes it feel kind of exclusive which for an up town girl like me is top 🙂 the tents did well and the organisation was fantastic it could of gone a lot worse but they kept it open and the moral held high

well done glade organisers, managment and team 🙂
