Been trawling forums about the glade and read this bit about people standing watching people fall into a hole that was covered by all the mud.. found this vid of it… well funny..

hahahah
i do wonder if the person who made the video just spent the whole weekend stood in one spot with a camera watching people fall in….
That’s exactly what we thought.. how long were they stood there for… ???
i would have put a sign in saying wade in at ur own peril
The security were totally out of order, really enjoying harrasing mangled people. ‘Security guard staring me out “‘your pupils are very small, what are you on” -me ‘I am at a festival and it’s six am, leave it out’. What they took off me amounted to theft. My mate they approached with ‘now, you’re not going to cause me any trouble are you?’ If that’s not provocative then what is? I appreciate what the organisers have achieved etc. etc
well, Tescos don’t organise events where it is known that 90%+ of the people there will be consuming vast amounts of illegal substances. Glade organisers know this very well. They should at least have a policy where you can bring drinks in while the bars are closed. As much as I have enjoyed Glades over the past few years, I think I’m going to stick to free ones for a while.
Am I ranting a bit? Well I’m getting fed up of the big rave organisers ‘put up and shut up attitude’. They make it sound like they have such a tough job. At least they are making money doing something they enjoy. It’s time they gave something back to the punters eg relaxed security. If it’s at the stage that they have pander to councils and make promises in order to get a license then IMO they have SOLD OUT.
They should at least have a policy where you can bring drinks in while the bars are closed.
They did, you could take drinks in before 6pm on thu before the bars opened.
happened 10 years ago mate…
an event just won’t get a license any other way, drugs are illegal however much we disagree and that won’t change (perhaps) until a larger proportion of both our generation and the newer generation show that they can self-regulate their own personal use a bit better than at present.
The CID attend and monitor all these sorts of events (at Eastern Haze a reliable source advised me that Scotland Yard drug squad detectives were on site) and if security are too lax this is noted and fed back to the licensing committee.
I’m not knocking the overall idea of Glade as clearly people had a good time there despite all the weather and at one time (not so sure now) lots of my friends were involved in it but its just like HTID or Raverbaby or Tidy Weekender but outdoors and with more seemingly “underground” music.
All these events are subject to full scrutiny by the authorities without notice or consultation – in fact (although its fairly unlikely unless there was something like a major gang brawl) the cops could even send the riot squad in to a legal event if they so desired!
Everywhere has stabbings! Why havent you gone to a squat since?
Several reasons really not just that, I got in a bit of a state when I was living down your way and ended up in hospital (stroke) and moved away for a bit. But the aggro and shit going off at squats (not at outdoor partys though ) did put me off too many crack heads causing grief which isn’t what it should be about. Would probably go to a squat now though?
The problem with crackheads and gang culture affects all city areas now whether or not squat parties are involved.
Outdoor parties are nicer but in recent times I’ve noticed the vibe getting a bit darker as well – not so much people getting mugged but stuff getting robbed from vehicles, a bit more “townie-style” behaviour (like fighting over girls etc) and people bringing their “domestics” to the parties..
its more a problem with wider society than just parties. In 1997-2001 or so when the country was a lot more optimistic (more jobs/money due to dot-com euphoria and less paranoia over terrorism) it was also reflected in the attitude at parties and other social gatherings.
There is a though slightly friendlier vibe at squat parties in SE England outside the London area, although they are becoming less common everywhere as buildings are getting locked down more.
ohh my god! u had a stroke,?but your still wanting to go! , good on ya! :horay:
oh mate ! we knew they were gonna give us a hard time ! on our own . no queue . youve gotta be EXTRA carefull at these times of day !the fella
that searched me was very provocative but i was polite and put up with it .
they were trying to get a reaction !
They were stood there nearly 24/7! Was funny at first, then I thought ‘you have paid to come to a festival to take pictures and laugh at peeps falling in holes’. Not saying it aint funny for 10mins or so but some of the same guys were there daily!
English – we love laughin at some else’s misfortune init :laugh_at:
As long as you don’t mind security confiscating it off you afterwards.
D: D: D:
i never really had a problem with the security, didnt even search me on way in and let us bring loads of alc in.. they did confiscate our crappy portable stereo on the way for some reason tho, even tho some people had blatently brought massive ones. It was alright tho we just left it a bit then went back out to ‘take it to the car’ then just threw it over the fence to my mate! loads of people did that with alc to…my experience was the security were pretty slack, but maybe i was just lucky…
