Not a huge top hat… kind of a straight fedora… remember the old hannah barbera cartoon top cat? a hat like that… and he had a very thin and short “side kick”.. spoke in a very heavy eastern european accent… if that rings a bell :)… Let’s just say the place is good for a 2 minute walk to coco’s outback if ur hungry 😉

nope thats not him, although the description sounds like a modern and more multicultural / PC version of Sinterklaas and Zwart Piet :laugh_at:

    Great stuff, bro.
Did you get everyone on every off street coming up to you in big deep voices going “Ecstasy, Cocaine?”.

Would be interesting to know what reaction gambe had (particularly as he is by his own description a big scarey looking bloke with brown skin, which can cause people to judge you in todays Europe) – the impression I get from the NL news sites is that most of todays dealers are now of a age where their voice has only just broken!

nah… nothing weird this time cuz when i’m having a good time i always make it a point to be smiling and laughing all the time… and when i strike conversations, ppl think i’m american (english was my first language cuz i spent the first 3 years of my life in the states and caught their accent)… and i’m not the kind of guy that tries to show off or anything by wearing a tight t-shirt when the temp is below zero 🙂 … I try to wear something that’s XL or XXL when i go to crowded areas so as not to stick out (had some experiences where ppl tried to pick fights with me just for the way i’m built… usually ends up with me telling them i’d run or something, buy them drinks and have some laughs).

this is usually what i dress like in the cold and i just look fat and poofy… so that’s a plus 😀

but yeah… the dealer and his sidekick were young… i’d say late teens or early twenties at most.
and for the first time in my life!!!!!!! I got a guy telling me “PPPPSSSSSSSS!!!!! XTC!!! COKE!!!” … i don’t know why he said “psss” as if it were a whisper… you could hear him a mile away… LOL… now that dude… he was OLD… white beard and all…

when i started talking to the guy in the club, I just smoked next to him and with a huge smile said “how you doing bro? you having fun?” … then we started chatting and I asked him… nothing out of the ordinary.

TBH the old dude would most likely be homeless, along with youths they get recruited by the bigger dealers. Recently read an article in VK about a homeless guy busted for suspicion of pill dealing, he had a fair few on him (if it was just for personal use the papers would not even report it). in both cases this is due to NL being still fairly liberal and tolerant, for younger folk (who are allowed to make mistakes) and old homeless people drug dealing is seen as kattenkwaad (cat mischief!) – this means it isn’t seen as major crime, no worse than a alley cat stealing food or a pet one knocking something off a table.

It seems that in Amsterdam the view is that they don’t mind tourists or anyone else partying provided they behave well and contribute a few Euros into the normal economy, which is a sensible way to look at things.

exactly! that’s what i love about the place… happened more than once where guys were becoming nuisances to the crowd in whatever bar or club, and they immediately call the bouncer to dispose of those people… I like a place where they understand that having fun is having fun until you start bothering other people, and that hits the zero tolerance line. it’s why i feel safe in a place like that.
